Pours unclear pale yellow with medium-sized, snow-white head. Settles as thin layer of foam barely covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.

Aroma is lemonade-like sweetness meeting light sourness and some spicy odor. Notable aroma of funk rummaging in the background.

Medium strong carbonation. Thin, watery and lively texture.

Flavor is lightly sweet followed by a more pronounced bitterness. Aftertaste is tart and bitter. Lingers shortly. Finish is dry.

Refreshing but quite thin Saison. Has a great aroma and flavor but I miss a bit of intensity in the brew.

 

 

 

 

 

Bottled October 21, 2016 (294th day of 2016).

Pale, straw golden color. Small amounts of thin, frothy head bubble up as the beer is poured, but fizzles out and settles very quickly. No lace retention around the glass.

Definitely has that Brett funk predominance, with balancing aromas of floral hops, lemongrass, white grape must, and citrus peel. A nice bright aroma to this farmhouse.

The flavors here seem to have fallen off a bit, but the overall taste is still very crisp and clean. Very subtle, but a bit of floral bitterness and bread. The Brett yeast funk is there but much more subtle than on the nose. As it finishes you really get that lemongrass coming back strong, finishing with a grassy linger. Lightly grainy & spicy on the tail. All very soft, nothing hits you too hard at any point.

Light, crisp, clean, and dry. The carbonation has fallen off a bit, leaving it very low but soft. A light-drinking beer, and even what this beer has lost hasn't taken much away from the overall experience.

A hazy, straw and white gold color, classicly active appearance with a thin, white cap that dissipates to only minimal foam leftovers.

Smells like tart and sour wheat grains, white grapes with fermented veggies and a slightly sweet edge to light maltiness.

A tart kick, soft wheats and oat grains taste, super light malty effect, the saaz hops give it that classic spicy kick and herbal bite that I personally love so much. Im not usually a fan of low alcohol, table beer styles, but damn is this Farmhouse tasty...refreshing and CLEAzn. The yeast has some very interesting funk, not super tart or bitter, but pretty complex overall.

Could drink all day and feel good about it.

 

 

Very impressed with this beer. Very drinkable at 3.9% nice smells and even a great mouthfeel for a dry, low abv beer due to the oats and wheat. Very lovely and true to style.

I love Prairie and everything they do. I was curious to try this one out although I am not a fan of Belgian yeast or Brettanomyces that much.
Well this one is crisp, straw and sharply carbonated. Very goid that it's so light and low on ABV because it is purely refreshing. I think if they made this heavy with a firm body, the Brett yeast might have become annoying. But this way, it is paired with very significant and alluring hops (surprise, surprise, see what the good old Saaz can do!) and the Brett just kind of adds a bit of "foamy" nature to the feeling. There is some sourness to it, I guess caused by the yeast and now more you smell it, it develops an extremely interesting smell: straw and animals - welcome back Prairie, the masters of barnyard ales! Need to give it some time to develop its taste and boom! goes a superb experience again with these funky, strange notes in the smell and the taste. This is almost a trademark of Prairie, the wild yeast, the artistry of the random funk that in the end creates such a unique atmosphere that you just can't stop enjoying! Amazing! If it was for Prairie, I would love Brettanomyces.

Now let us be factual for a minute and let me quite what the label tells us:
"Prairie-vous Francais is a celebration of simple elegance. This farmhouse ale is brewed to be refreshing. We use barley, oats, and wheat to build a foundation for saaz hops and brettanomyces bruxellensis to play. You'll find this beer to be slightly tart and a touch hoppy. Prairie-vous Francais is one of our many farmhouse beers we hope you will love as much as we do."

Yes, yes I do. Prairie is a master brewery and everything they touch turns to gold. This beer made my average Saturday afternoon into a red-letter day celebration. Long live Prairie and their farmhouse beers!

 

 

 

 

Poured into a tulip, the appearance was white pear to yellow sort of color. Quickly dissolving foamy white head barely left any lace. Rapid carbonation bubbles were seen rising.
The aroma blended some lemon verbena, slight Bretty sour character, light on the lemongrass, a moderate clean funk (fresh-like) with herbal to earthy tones riding into that 'funk.' Seemed to punch in a little bit of piney hoppiness.
The flavor was moderately sour with that funk and lemon verbena punching forward to push the lemongrass, herbal and earthiness further back. Nice aftertaste of the lemon verbena with the herbal and earthiness coming in slightly.
The mouthfeel was about between light and medium bodied with a nice sessionability about it. Sour character is tame enough to not cause any pucker. Carbonation felt on par. ABV seemed as projected. Finish is grassy, smooth with a 'funky' sort of clean grab without the pucker.
Overall, odd for me to have opened this up today, though a very good beer, I'd be more susceptible to gulp in the Summer.
