Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Prairie gold Dino Glass. Acquired in a trade.
Pours a thick black motor oil body with a one finger brown head that reduces fairly quickly to leave a ring of retention and spotty lacing.
On the nose I get the signature apple brandy barrel, sweet candied apples with French vanilla notes and a hint of maple in the background, a bit of booziness.
On the tongue the apple brandy barrel also takes center stage with more coffee showing up on the follow through, vanilla making a solid appearance and maple on the finish. Maple definitely shows up more as it warms up. Aftertaste is roasty with more coffee coming through.
I've yet to be disappointed by a beer in this series and this is no exception. The apple brandy barrel dominates and the maple/vanilla could have been a little more predominant, but nonetheless tasty.
