Poured a slightly amber-golden hue, leaving a generous, frothy head with streaks of lacing lasting till the finish. Visible carbonation. Looks quite impressive.

Nose is slightly fruity (apple), with honey, lemon zest and leafy hops providing the backing.

A smooth, flavorful lager, tastes very well-made. An initial fruity blast, followed by a malty character, ending with a tangy, pepper hop finish.

Good body, slightly heavier than most pale lagers, with clean, crisp carbonation. Highly drinkable.

Wow, I'm quite impressed - very happy with the way their Lager was put together. This brew really benefits from being on tap, and went down very well on a muggy August afternoon. One of the better pale lagers in Ontario.

Pale gold body with a nice foamy white head. Nice retention present. Some good webbing. Honey and hops fill the nose from the start, and are then followed by malty grain aromas. Semi-sweet, grass/grain malt flavour with mild hops bitterness to balance. Light to medium body. Drink fresh.

Flavour is again big on maltiness but balanced pretty well with the hop backbone. Grainy, and bready. Crisp and clean mouthfeel and moderate to high carbonation.
Not too crazy but a refreshing beer nonetheless.

I tried this beer on May 2, 2008 after purchasing a variety 6-pack of Ontario Craft Beer from one of my local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a translucent red-tinged golden colour with a generous white head that quickly dissipated. The aroma was slightly malty, a little tinge of hops, and a lot of mustiness as stated previously. The beer is thin to medium bodied with ample carbonation. The flavour has a slight sweetness to it, a little bit of caramel malt, and a little hoppish character in the end.

Pours with a fluffy white head. Pretty good lacing and retention. Has a nice looking color, a mix of orange and yellow.

Smells mostly of malt (faintly sweet), some fruitiness and a bit of floral hops.

Tastes like is smells, sweet malts, fruits, floral and slightly citric hops. I just couldn't get into this one. I will stick with the Brooklyn Lager.

A - Pours a clear reddish gold, with a nice off-white head. Pretty good size, density, and stickiness.

S - Sweet and somewhat fruity - pineapples come to mind, with some herbal/grassy hops. Somewhat buttery.

T - Some solid flavour in this. Some very light roasted maltiness stops short of being nutty before overwhelmed by a somewhat light citric hop. Grainy on the back end before fading to a barely there aftertaste.

M - Substantial for the style, though a little too fizzy for my taste.

D - Good drinkability, and a fairly solid flavour to this. One of the better pale lagers I've had. I look forward to finding this on tap somewhere.

Pours a light amber color with a small ring of foam on top and not much lace clinging to the glass. Malt and hop aromas are obscured by pronounced corn and popcorn notes. The taste is malt-centric with toasty and caramel flavors. A balancing hoppiness is earthy and somewhat coarse and lacking in depth. There's a slight sourness common to several Ontario microbrews. Dodgy yeast? Improper fermentation temperature? I dont know what causes it, but in this example it's luckily very minimal. The mouthfeel is quite full and moderately carbonated for a lager. The finish is sweetish and light.

This beer is pretty mediocre. A little bit of hop flavor, a little bit of malt, not much else. I wont be seeking it out again.

Served from a 341ml brown twist off bottle into a pint glass.

A- Nice creamy off white head, clear amber/deep golden in color, lively carbonation, nice lace.

S- Sweet caramel malts, floral hop notes, somewhat metallic.

T- Nice malt, caramel and toffee notes, also a hints of vanilla, spicy/grassy floral hop notes add nice balance with a crisp dry finish. Fairly fresh tasting>very good.

M- Crisp, Clean, medium bodied with pretty lively carbonation(moderate).

D- Great tasting beer. Easily quaffable.

Overall im gonna have to take a page out of headlessparrot's review and say that i think we have a possible replacement for Creemore Springs Lager. Theres good things brewing in Walkerville Ontario.

I bought this in Manitoba and was surprised to see import markings on the bottle. The beer is quite dark and very malty on the nose. I really like this beer as it tastes like an amber ale with lage yeast. Full flavour with the hops coming through on the finish this is a beer that sticks with you after the bottle is finished. I wish BC had this as I would buy more often

Olde Walkerville Amber Lager is, now that I think of it, the first craft brew that I've ever tried - probably at the age of fifteen or sixteen after a few cans of my friend's dad's collection of Guinness. At the time I thought it was disgusting, but a lot of time has passed. Still, I went into this expecting it to be the worst of the three Walkerville beers. But instead, I was pleasantly surprised (perhaps almost as much as I was with their Superior Light Lager).

Poured from an ISB that came in the Olde Walkerville Brewery Beer Store "Bootlegger mixed case" (8 each of the Lager, Ale, and Light) - a bottle that, surprisingly has markings that show this bottle was intended for the US rather than Canadian market. In any event, it pours into the pint glass a surprisingly light amber (I remember darker), amber in colour yet virtually translucent, and with visible effervescence. Depending on the lighting, the colour seems to shift from a darker ruby to a deep straw, though. In any event, it's topped by a healthy two fingers of dense foam that lasts for ten minutes or so (along with tremendous lacing) before receding to a half-finger or so. That half-finger, though, lasts for the whole bottle. Not super-impressive, but nice looking.

Smell is quite pleasant, though I can't quite put my finger on some of its characteristics. It doesn't feature the apricot and apples of the blonde ale and the light, but it's got its own fruity sweetness. Light floral character, bready malt, but also some toffee and caramel. A little spicy, too. Maybe even a touch of orange peel? A slight metallic twang is its only drawback, as near as I can tell. Hopping is moderate, but the hop character in the nose isn't overtly assertive - its gentle, and pleasant, mingling with the sweetness. Overall, pretty nice.

Taste is affected by the faint metallic touch, but is otherwise also quite nice. Very mild, but a nice blend of sweet (orange peel, honey, toffee) and bitter (floral, but not overtly assertive hops). Accompanied by some bready, biscuity malt flavour. Nothing super impressive, but quite respectable. This is a solid replacement for Creemore Springs Lager since its Molson purchase and dumbing-down (though different enough that it's not really fair to compare them). Finishes is dry, with a slightly stronger bitterness that still retains hints of honey and orange peel.

Mouthfeel is good. Body is moderate, and the carbonation - while fairly lively - is much less than I've encountered, even in other micro all-malt lagers (and much less than that of the Walkerville Superior Light). As for drinkability, I imagine it to be good - I would never turn one down, and will probably drink more in the future (their in-house deal is quite nice). I could see myself having three or four in a sitting.

All in all, I was suitably impressed by Walkerville's Amber Lager. It's solid if unspectacular, but a good start for modern craft brewing in Windsor. Worth a try, and maybe even worth considering as a replacement for Creemore Springs if you're as disillusioned as I was about its acquisition by Molson.

I don't think they lager this for enough time. Initially it has a sharp metallic flavour that I'm really not fond of. Six weeks in the fridge mellows it out a little.

A: Golden-orange, off-white head, not much retention, touch of lace.

S: Floral & metallic hops, toffee & a little light caramel.

T: Continental, Nobel hop flavour (metallic, grassy & a little floral). A little bread & toffee flavours from the malt. Pleasant, crisp bitterness (certainly more than a typical macro). A hint of fruity esters... makes me wonder if it's really a lager yeast.

M: Moderate body & carbonation.

D: Fairly good.

A little taste, very dry, off vegetable finish.Thinnish mouthfeel.Urine yellow, some lace.Fizzy carbonation,corn aftertaste. A little hops. Another local lager we do not need, but strange taste makes it at least different to try. LCBO Summerhill Festival.

Medium copper in colour with lots of carbonation. Aromas are of caramel toffee and light earthy hops. Some bready malt flavors are in there, along with more carmel. Decent bitter finish. Definitely better than pretty much any Canadian macro, but not quite up the the quality of Creemore. Above average.

This was an unexpected surprise finding this one on my Manitoba LC shelf. A bit pricey, but so are the Unibroue offerings....

Looks a bit weak, the head subsides quickly, not much lace, dark yellow colouring.

Smells is a bit....um...stinky.. I'm not sure what that is. Spicy undertones, but what an unusual odour. The nose is a bit unpleasant. Is that the journey from Windsor? The taste is actually quite refresing. Orange peel, a nice hoppy bite with a touch of sweetness. Clean aftertaste. The actual taste is overshadowed slightly by a weird metallic note. This dosen't make it undrinkable, but it's a bit disconcerting. This is a bit of a strange brew, but I'm feeling drawn to it, it's so unlike a lot of Lagers being produced right now. Is this an emulation of the old Walkerville brew? If so, did lagers taste like this 80 years ago? Interesting anyways, I'd like to have this one on tap sometime.

My first Windsor beer. Caramel golden juice emits waves of roasted wheat in cream and clover fields. Lively gas carries a burst of Maple sap served on dried leaf. I fancy this is the lager my Gran'Pa used to drink before the dark days of prohibition.

Another great Canadian beer seeing more popularity in the States. Hazy orange / yellow appearance with a dense white head that dissipates quickly and leaves an odor of malt and earth. Some sweet bread and yeasty notes. Taste is medium bodied, simple yet still complex enought for the beer advocate. Strong flavors of full malts, light grain, grass, hay, oats, with a touch of hops. Mouthfeel is rather smooth and easy going down. Nice. Drinkability is good. A nice summer sessioner. Recommended if you can find it. Kind of pricey, but worth a try.

The amber color was inviting so I ordered one with my meal at the grill...but this beer tastes so much better than the lagers from the Brick brewery in Waterloo and ceratinly equal(but different) to Creemore Springs. Maybe the bottled product is less malted (had mine on tap at the Brooklyn grill).

Tapped a crystal amber (highly filtered) smallish white head that goes to a glass clinging ring. Medium carbonation (on the draft kegged product anyway). Aromas of sweet caramel malts and some subtle hints of musty (Nobel?) hops. Starts fairly sharp then mellows into a medium body punctuated with the bread-like malts dominate over the hops...finishes clean and medium dry with a slight biscuit after taste. A good domestic micro lager . It was a bit fizzy, but straight forward and malty enough for a true micro lager.

There is a rumor Walkerville is expanding it's market niche' and subsequently its product line...we can only hope they make an honest attempt to reproduce the brews that made Walkerville famous in the past century like "old style", "Rob Roy", and "John Bull". Good flavorful beers that took on the mega brewers befor 1950 and won market share for traditional beers at a time when the industry was trending towards bland uniformity for wide distribution.

Will we see Walkerville replicate those haydays of the old brewery?...stay tuned.

I really didn't care much for this lager, but pehaps I had a bad bottle. The hazy orange amber body was topped, briefly, by a single finger of buttery head, but it vanished and left no lace. The nose was light and completely without discernible character. The flavor was an oddly sweet and sour affair with a lifeless mouthfeel and lack of appeal. Not easily drinkable though I suspect I could be coaxed to drink another on a bet.

Moderate head over a clear, orange-amber beer. Nicely carbonated, it gives up some good lace going down.

This beer looks nice, but is way too corny on the nose and the palate. Some sweet hops up front, not much of anything else. Better than a macro, though.

orange bronze liquid...about as much head as I would expect on a mid-cask bitter. nice smooth gradation within the variegated sheet of foam.
The smell of this beer is nutty. Butter, roasted mixed nuts, and blonde, cured woods betray a certain English pub aesthetic. Once in the mouth it delivers a velvety rich texture underneath sometimes metallic, sometimes peaty (unsmoked) dynamics. There is a soft, sauteed banana fruit flavor too. Pretty good lager. Much richer than most other members of this style category.
