During my wife's and my recent beer/wine/triathlon vacation in NZ we decided to stop into Good George for some brew and pizza. Between my wife and I, we had several of their offerings in a single sitting since we had nowhere else to be.
This beer pours a clear, bright golden color that shows off some seriously high carbonation, along with a white, foamy head that dissipates slowly to a rocky layer with a neck that is retained. 3.75/5 The aroma is heavy on the hops with grapefruit, lemon zest, peach, papaya, and tangerine all coming out to play and vying for attention. Their is a light, grainy malt base that comes through as a undertone, slightly balancing the aroma. 3.75/5 The flavor profile starts out with light caramel and white bread, but quickly transitions to the hops with tangerine, nectarine, papaya, and lemon zest all coming out quite strongly. Despite the heavy does of citrus, their is a floral undertone to the hops that is quite interesting, providing a bit of guesswork as to what was used. Bitterness is moderate and only lingers slightly after swallowing. 3.75/5 This is a light to medium bodied beer that features medium dryness and a lingering dryness. There is a medium carbonation burn up front that is significant but goes away rather quickly. Overall, the mouthfeel is quite crisp and refreshing. 4/5 I was pleasantly surprised by this beer. I really was not sure what to thing of a "Sparkling Ale", but it really works nicely and has a very good flavor profile that leans heavily toward hoppy and bitter, but is quite refreshing at the same time. 3.75/5
