This beer grew on me significantly. First few sips was just ok, as I am not a huge cucumber fan (except pickles) but as I finished the pint I was won over by it.

22oz Bomber
$6.99
Binny's - Bolingbrook

Mister Fancy Pants is pure golden, bright with good clarity. The body glows when backlit like a gold bar. The foam is dirtied up white and bulbous. It grew quickly on the pour nearly spilling over but thanks to it's meringue-like qualities an accident was averted. As I drink, big clumpy lacing clings to the glass. A damn fine looking beverine!

The nose is a little odd. A mild but neutral grainy sweetness lays base for a very vegetal quality. There is cucumber mixed in there but the main component is just vegetal, kind of like the trimmings from making a vegetable heavy meal. There's also a mild clean sugary sweetness to the overall aroma.

The flavor better falls in line with a cucumber lager. The cucumber is bright and vibrant from start to finish with an instantly refreshing quality. There are still earthy notes here and there but they aren't as pungent as in the nose. A pale, softly sweet malt base is a clean canvas for the cucumber addition. A good beer, interesting.

The body weighs in a hair below moderate in weight with With a velvety smoothness. There's a vague bitterness on the backend, whether that's a vegetal bitterness or a hoppy bitterness I'm not sure. It finishes fairly dry and it's an easy drinker.

While I've sampled some beers from Flesk in the past this is the first I have ever purchased, it sounded interesting and promising. The vegetal notes kind of threw me for a loop, especially in the nose. It's a decent beer but I would probably pass it up in the future.

22 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. Another new bomber to me from the local Flesk Brewing Company, out of the neighboring village of Lombard. Artwork drawn by a friend from VP. Expectations are pretty good for this one; I've enjoyed the cucumber beers I've had in the past.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - It pours a nice appealing golden orange with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Active carbonation and some nice fine sediment lurking about in this one. Some thin spotty lacing, but not much. Looks pretty nice. 4

S - The aroma is distinct and pleasant - fresh, floral, & vegetal. Some caramel malt and distinct earthy lager yeast presence is noted as well. 4

T - Taste follows the nose - definitely lots of fresh vegetal cucumber flavor to be had here. Floral / vegetal / earthy. Some sweetened caramel malt & lager yeast presence is noted and rounds things off nicely. Peachy / apricot tasting at times. Very unique and delicious. 4

M - The feel is smooth and creamy, medium-bodied, with light carbonation. Very easy drinking for the moderate 7.50% abv. Borderline refreshing. 4

Overall, another nice local beer from Flesk Brewing. I am a particular fan of cucumber beers, so this one was to my liking. Definitely recommended if it is available to you.
