Taster at CopenRoss. Black, still pour, thin ring of head. Aroma hints at maple, which comes in spades for the taste. Supersweet. Oily, thick. Minor notes of chocolate, coffee. Latent heat.

Type: 4.94-oz. draft
Glass: Clear 16-oz. tulip glass
From: Coin Haus in La Mesa, Calif.
Price: $4.94
Purchased: June 15, 2019
Consumed: June 15, 2019
Reviewed as: American Double / Imperial Stout
Misc.: Quick review
Went over to Coin Haus to use up a $25 Groupon that I probably wasn’t going to be able to use before I went on vacation. Would be quick reviews all night with small pours, breaking my semi-rule of no reviews under six ounces. Untappd called it an, “Imperial stout with maple syrup and coffee.”
Poured a pitch black color with 2-to-3 fingers of khaki tan frothy head. No noticeable bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Excellent lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled black coffee, char wood, ashtray, maple syrup, caramel, toffee, vanilla and burnt brown sugar. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted maple syrup, caramel, toffee, black coffee, char wood, ashtray, burnt brown sugar and vanilla. (Taste - 3.75)
Full body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, sugary finish. (Feel - 4.00)
Very good overall. I’d have it again for sure. (Overall - 3.75)
