This murky Phantom Bride has an incredible blend of intense tropical fruit, tangerine, and grapefruit with a rounded finish that doesn't linger too long. Combined with a juicy mouthfeel and pillowy-soft bitterness, this beer pays homage to the OG Phantom Bride while being distinctive enough in its own right as a monster of a hazy beer.

Type: 16-oz. can

Glass: Pure Project 14-oz. snifter elemental (air) glass
Price: $13.00 for a 6-pack
From: Trader Joe’s in College Area (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Aug. 25, 2022
Consumed: Aug. 26, 2022
Misc.: Canned on July 20, 2022
Grabbed a 6-pack of this on a recent Trader Joe’s trip with my first time hearing of this beer. I was a big fan of their regular Phantom Bride, giving it a 4.31 on Aug. 19, 2017, but the beer seemed to change over time and not for the good. Decided I might as well give this one a shot. Had two the night before reviewing this, giving them a 3.75 on Untappd and writing that it was probably closer to a 4.00 than a 3.75. So maybe 3.85-3.90ish? Belching Beaver’s website called for “This murky Phantom Bride has an incredible blend of intense tropical fruit, tangerine, and grapefruit with a rounded finish that doesn't linger too long. Poured a medium yellow hazy color with six fingers of overflowing rocky white head. Could see plenty of bubbles coming flying up along the sides of the glass. Excellent uneven spiderweb lacing. Excellent foamy retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled apricot, peach, orange rind, pineapple, papaya, passion fruit and grapefruit. A little better out of the can with the addition of green grape, kiwi and guava. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted about as good as the nose. In order got grapefruit, apricot, peach, orange rind, pineapple, papaya, passion fruit, guava, floral and dry grass. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Abrupt, sweet, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.00)
This was pretty good overall and I even think I slightly underrated it. (Overall - 4.00)
