September 21st, 2013 - Saisons. Saisons everywhere. Even in my own backyard, here at the Belching Beaver. Evernote kept trashing on me today, so the appearance of the Saison de Beaver is lost to time immemorial. But words didn't fail me. The aroma is simultaneously nutty and spicy, with especially rich scents of coriander and fresh, wet grains, like the smell of a brewery on a brew day. The flavor brings more complexity in - banana, clove and esters, with a perky palate. The aroma gives me saison signals, but the flavor is closer in semblance to a hefeweizen, except in the aftertaste where a surprising surge of grapefruit hops notes make a surprise appearance.
