A tight white foam reaches three inches and lingers for a long time. Eventually the PBGC tulip glass is deposited with patchy lace. The beer is (SRM 3) clear yellow straw with tiny, lazy carbonation throughout.

The aroma is soft with earthy yeast, light lemon and honeydew. Dry hay starts to take over and settles into the olfactory. Faint caramel and faint Pilsner malt is also present.

The sweet/bitter balance is superior, with both in modest quantities. A funky flavor is also present against cardamom and white pepper. This beer lacks fruity flavors and it rather savory. Warmth has no significant impact and the finish is mildly grainy.

Alcohol is surprisingly absent against a light to medium body and soft, crisp texture. Carbonation is light and prickly.

Raleigh, NC sure has stepped up their game. This has been the third in a random selection of beer from a recent trip there, all of which have been excellent. Trophy Husband is perfect on a warm, sunny day out on the deck. Yeast adds a light haze and adds a creamy texture. Yeast also amps up the flavors without otherwise altering them.

as clean saison goes, this is one of the best i have had in awhile. usually not the type of saison that turns me on the most, but they killed this one, my first beer from these guys. actually, i had never even heard of them until their beer showed up all over town in denver for gabf this week, one of those brands who comes in for the week and takes the market by storm. i really wish i got the four pack instead of the single can. golden and heady, bubbly and mostly clear, tons of yeast character, decidedly belgian, peppery and spicy, white pepper, lemongrass, pear, green apple, white wine, sliced lemon, coriander seed, and even licorice or something, super interesting and identical in both aroma and flavor. the grain base is clean and simple and light, with a pils malt note to it along with the requisite wheat. i get a light sweetness from it, floral and botanical from the hops too, an old world profile there but extremely fresh. its expansive too, one thing after the next and it kind of keeps going. green tea and white wine esters, dry cereal, minerals, and rushing carbonation. its fresh and flavorful and refreshing, about as good of a clean saison that exists out there, much to my surprise and delight. i will be on the hunt for more trophy beers to try, which shouldnt be hard, i saw them all over the place this week! super impressive little beer right here, a real drinker!

16 oz can poured into speigelau ipa Glass canned on 5/10.

A: Huge fluffy chunky big bubbles white head that does stop. The carbonation rips up from the bottom. Body is a very clear yellow color.

S: lemon hay a little tartness some funk and a little grains.

T: lots of funkiness and a little hay a little pepper. This beer has a good bit of funk though.

M: Very soft almost flat for as carbonated as it looks it’s like it loses it all in the reoccurring head.

O: This isn’t a bad saison, pretty funky in the flavor more of the hay and just funk. The head is probably the most impressive thing. Never dying and resurrecting itself.

Pours a clear gold with medium to high carbonation. Aroma is of pilsner malt and some grassy hops , maybe some spicy yeast esters. Flavor is much of the same. A great easy drinking example of a saison.

Look: Golden with minimal haze. A very nice white head.
Smell: Malty with the clove from saison yeast - awesome.
Taste: "Saisony" clove from yeast along with malt and a slight ending bitter balance.
Feel: Dry as a saison should be.
Overall: I really like it. This is a very drinkable saison.

A: Pours a relatively clear pale golden yellow in color with moderate to heavy amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and moderate straw yellow + pale bright yellow colored highlights. The beer has a finger tall fizzy foamy bright white head that reduces to a large patch of slightly mottled very thin film covering the majority (95%+) of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass.

S: Moderate aromas of pale + wheat malts with minimal amounts of sweetness and slightly stronger than moderate aromas of spicy saison yeast + light earthy funkiness. Light to moderate aromas of tropical/melon and citrus/lemon with a light hint of tropical/pineapple + herbal hops.

T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of pale + wheat malts with minimal amounts of sweetness. Slightly stronger than moderate flavors of spicy saison yeast + light earthy funkiness. Finally there are light flavors of tropical/melon and citrus/lemon with a light hint of tropical/pineapple + herbal hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which fades away after a moderate amount of time leaving spicy saison yeast lingering.

M: Light to medium bodied with slightly heavier than moderate amounts of carbonation. Hints of dryness in the finish.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and very enjoyable - a really nice traditional saison with just a hint of tropical + citrus hops. Definitely one I could have multiple and could enjoy many times.
