Farmhouse beer brewed with roselle harvested from our property, honey from our friends at Royal Bee and fermented with our wild house mixed culture. Bubblegum aromas with a dry, pleasant finish and a clean, floral flavor.

Had on tap at The Beer Temple whose bar had just re-opened for St. Patrick's Day. (I went there to pickup my on-line order from their bottle shop.) It turns out that all four ales I've had from Scratch I got at The Beer Temple and three were on tap.
Roselle is pleasant. It Looks, Smells and Tastes like a balanced saison. Quite clear for an ale, a pretty pale and sufficient foam. Smells are mostly malt played-up by honey sweetness; detecting a hint of herbs for earthiness. Tastes follow, but I'm imagining there is a very mild wildness in the yeast. In the mouth, I'd imagine this would be slightly prickly and would not be great at the table. But then, I've yet to have their farmhouse ales with their farmhouse menu... or any menu, for that matter. Perhaps someday I will get the full culinary experience.
At any rate, I'm glad The Beer Temple is open again... for where else would I get Scratch?
