Balancing chewy malts and herbal hops, an extra special bitter is a british beer style that's ironically low in bitterness & all about drinkability. We infused our version w/ earl grey tea to add spicy and floral notes. A perfect choice for when you can't decide between a cup o' tea or a pint o' bitter.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of earl grey tea, toffee, caramel and grassy notes. Sweet caramel and toffee taste with subtle notes of tea and bitterness.

Earthy English ale aroma, sweet malts, dark fruit, caramel, tea is there but not dominating.
Dark amber, 1/2 inch off white toward tan head, thick and creamy, receding pace is moderate, leaving sheets of lacing. Visible carbonation.
Mouth feel has a medium body, with little carbonation feel, which is actually expected for the style.
Tea is more dominant in the taste than in the aroma, hitting boldly up front, floral, fruit and caramel underneath, with a nominally bitter middle and finish. The aftertaste is moderately bitter, in a tea sort of way. Enjoyable. Finish is medium sweet.
Overall, a decent ESB, but I can't decide if the tea is a positive addition.

This beer was poured from a can into a pint glass.
Look: The look of this beer is a dark ruby color that has 2 inches of head. The beer leaves a small amount of lacing in the glass as it's drank.
Smell: The smell of this beer is malty and a very strong earl grey (which I don't mind a bit).
Taste: The taste of the beer is a little bitter to begin with, but the earl grey really adds to the complexity of the beer. The earl grey gives the beer almost a citrus note and it's very appealing.
Feel: The feel of the beer is crisp with a the slightest bit of lingering booze to warm your mouth up.
Overall: It is a gloomy and rainy day here in Minnesota which is perfect for this beer because the can says "Pairs well with overcast days, cool breezy evenings, and cozy moments around a fireplace with friends." This beer pairs well with gloomy (Bad) weather and would also pair equally as well with a crisp sunny autumn day.

T: tea flavor is up front over moderately sweet malt

This beer pours a deep amber with a solid head. The aroma is rich and sweet, with toffee, black tea, dried orange peel, banana bread, and brown sugar. The flavor is a balanced, slightly sweet mixing of toffee, caramel, black tea, violets, roses, and milk chocolate. The mouthfeel is light with medium carbonation. Overall this is an excellent little beer - the tea is noticeable, but not overpowering, and all the flavors are well integrated, with good layering.

Pours a clear, red-amber colour. Smells like bergamot lemon, black tea, and caramel and red malts. Heady caramel and red malts upfront, maple, nutty, and then rounds out with slight bitter black tea and a light Earl Grey finish. Clean.

served on nitro at the brewery, definitely one of their better beers, and esb with earl grey tea, it makes great sense, and they have this one perfectly refined. they start with a great esb, maris otter and crystal malts it seems, very authentically english there, with a similarly classic bready yeast strain that dries it out pretty well. the flavor would be fantastic even without the tea, it doesnt even need to be in here for this to be a great brew, but the tea really does elevate it to something quite unique and even memorable. its not too much at all, floral and bitter, also a classic english vibe to it, blends in well. it brings out some of the grassy and bitter hop notes, and it cuts some of the malt weight too, making this a real drinkable beer. somewhat cozy, like warming for cool weather, but also kind of lively and summery, especially for something english. really great job on this overall, and the nitro pour gives it a nice richness and creamy platform for the other flavors. are they packaging this one yet? if not, it should be in the plans...

Had on cask in the taproom. I could drink this one forever - great nose and color, and the taste is phenomenal - currently my all time favorite ESB. Well done Bad Weather.
