Pours a dark yellow colour with a thick healthy head. Citrus and hops on the nose. The taste is tangy and tropical, just in general no specific tropical fruit. Just has a tropical vibe to it. A little boozy for my personal preference

I bought a can at the LCBO in Ontario 355ml at 7%.
Poured a 2finger head into glass hazy color good carbonation leaving a lace as you drink nice tropical flavors of orange and citrus .
Hoppy and crisp or spicy kick zesty lemons medium to high bitterness but enjoyable to drink slowly.
Cheers

355 mL can from the LCBO; dated Jul 15 2021 and served slightly chilled.
Pours hazy and translucent, its body a pale golden colour and capped off with roughly one finger of frothy white head. Within a matter of minutes, it has been reduced to a tight collar of creamy suds and a filmy cap, with a modest swath of stringy lace imprinted onto the glass - looks normal for the style. The aroma is citrusy and fruity, with lime, lemon and grapefruit all displayed prominently, in addition to hints of stone fruit, melon and vaguely spicy hops.
A solid IPA that I took a liking to pretty quickly - cantaloupe and mango at first, with citrusy characteristics of grapefruit, orange and lemon developing soon thereafter. Finishes with muddled stone fruit, melon and some spicy, herbal hop bitterness that leads into a citrusy, tropical fruit-y aftertaste that doesn't linger for long. I didn't sense the 7% at first, but it becomes a little more noticeable as the glass approaches room temperature. Full in body, with fairly low carbonation that gently brushes the surface of the palate, doing little to augment this brew's fluffy, soft mouthfeel. Reasonably drinkable, given its strength; a few servings of this in a row wouldn't cause me any grief.
Final Grade: 4.05, an A-. Southpaw is actually pretty well-rounded as far as IPAs go - a little bit juicy, moderately bitter, a little warming, with a satisfying, fulfilling feel in the mouth. This is one of those beers that doesn't really blow me away in any specific area, but has no real weak spots for me to home in on, either. A little expensive, but since it's on the cusp of being a DIPA, I can't complain too much about the price point, which is on par with similar Left Field products. If you come across some fresh cans, don't hesitate to pull the trigger - I'd grab at least two.

A very pale yellow little fella goes into glass and leaves a small but dissipating head. The nose is different from some of the IPAs. Wood tones, lager scent and some cotton candy. The taste is muted and slightly off balance, with boozy feel. It's a good drinker, though not outstanding, due to the New Zealand hops that seem to have become fashionable for the past year or so, thanks to the difficult Covid availability of many of the other, more quality hops.

355 ml can served cold into a chalice. LCBO purchase for about $3.75 CDN. Canned April 27, 2021.
Appearance - Hazy, yellowy beer with orange highlights. A small half finger of frothy head poured on top with modest staying power. No lacing to speak of, only a soapy collar.
Smell - Lots of tropical notes as expected. Pineapple, passionfruit, maybe some papaya and cantaloupe. Undercurrent of grapefruit in behind all that. Maybe a tiny bit of coconut too.
Taste - Good bitterness levels. Grapefruit and passionfruit with some papaya mixed in. Tropical but still has earthy bitterness. Bordering on too bitter for the sake of being bitter, but thankfully doesn't cross that threshold.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, good expressive carbonation and lighter than expected finish.
Overall - Another very good IPA out of these guys, tasty stuff and a little different with some little known New Zealand hops.
