Floating by as if on a spring breeze, Flutterball Pale Ale lands just over the plate with low and gentle bitterness, notes of gooseberry and sunny citrus, and just a touch of sweetness. Don’t be fooled though, like its namesake pitch, this hazy ale packs a knuckleball’s punch of juicy, fruity flavour thanks to Nelson Sauvin, Amarillo and Centennial hops.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. Canned January 28/25. My 12th beer from the Toronto, Ontario brewery, and 3rd for 2026. Endlessly endorsed by Gracie the cat...

355 mL can from the LCBO; dated Mar 6 2024 and served barely chilled.
Pours a cloudy lemondrop yellow colour, initially topped with an inch of bubbly, soapy white head that disintegrates within three or four minutes. It leaves behind some stringy, delicate lace as it drops down to a frothy collar and patchy cap - looks normal enough so far. Highly floral, perfumey and/or potpourri-like aroma that includes hints of lemon, stone fruit and white grape.
It tastes alright - not a lot 'pop' to the flavour profile, but if you look at this as a session NEIPA then you'll kind of get the idea. There's a faint note of wheaty, bready pale malts, with fruity hints of lemon peel, apricot, white grape and watermelon rind. Finishes with big floral hop notes, dissipating into a mildly pithy, acidic aftertaste that quickly fades to dry. Light-medium in body, with assertive carbonation that feels prickly on the tongue, adding some crispness to this brew's smooth mouthfeel. Easy to drink quickly, and not really worth nursing anyhow.
Final Grade: 3.63, an acceptable B grade. Flutterball is not an especially impressive hazy pale ale, but on the whole my impression is generally positive. The lemon and floral notes are nice enough, but I was hoping for a little more potency out of the Nelson hops - this really just comes off as a watered-down NEIPA, largely due to its very weak malt bill. That being said, it tastes fine, and I wouldn't turn down the chance to try another, fresher sample of this beer in the future. Worth a shot if you can find some fresh stock.

Review from notes. 355ml can served cold into a beer mug. Canned February 24.
Appearance - semi hazy pale straw colored beer with tons of bubbles and a small half finger of head.
Smell - Citrus with passionfruit and some sweetness. Hints of bubblegum too. Surprisingly aromatic.
Taste - Sweeter than expected with the passionfruit and again the bubblegum shining through. I like this combo more than I should.
Mouthfeel - Medium light bodied with good carbonation
Overall - Decent pale ale with more sweetness than expected from an unusual combo.
