355 mL can from the LCBO; dated Jul 6 2022 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a hazy pale yellow colour, generating half a finger of loose, soapy white head that sizzles off within two minutes or so. A thin collar and film are all that remain, with minimal lace production - looks fine to me. Lemon and pink grapefruit on the nose, with suggestions of pineapple juice and cereal grains.
A serviceable ultra-light IPA; there is some semblance of an oat-y, grainy malt backbone, but beyond that it's mostly just hop flavours. Grapefruit is what shines through, though there are also hints of lemon and tropical fruit leading into a mildly grassy, pithy conclusion with very low bitterness; light citrus aftertaste that dissipates to off-dry. Light in body, with assertive carbonation that remains crisp and prickly right down to the last swig; a true thirst-quencher, with great drinkability.
Final Grade: 3.64, a B grade. Left Field has no shortage of excellent pale ales in their portfolio, but I'm not sure I'd count Scout amongst them. Don't get me wrong, it's fine for what it is - its fruity, citrusy hop flavours and refreshing nature match up well against many Ontario-brewed alternatives - but this is much closer to 'passable' than 'memorable'. In all fairness, this can is at least five months old, which is getting up there for any pale ale, let alone a session IPA. Worth a shot if you're a session IPA fan, or if you're simply looking for something light and citrusy.

Review from notes. Labelled as Micro IPA. Canned May 11, 2022
Appearance - Very pale yellowy brew with some haze. A finger of white head is poured and stays for a little while.
Smell - Light with some tropical aromas, pineapple seems most prominent.
Taste - Similar to the nose with some lemon added in. Actually more flavorful than expected for such a low ABV.
Mouthfeel - Pretty fizzy, but decently drinkable.
Overall - Good for a Micro IPA, pretty average otherwise. If session IPA's are your thing, Scout isn't a bad one at all.
