Named for the Postseason major-league-legend himself, Mr. Oktober Festbier is a smooth and clean, pale German lager with moderate malt flavour and light hop character. Showcasing elegant German malt flavours like bread crusts, honey, graham cracker, and lightly floral Tettnanger hops, with easy spice and citrus notes. Crisp and balanced, Mr. Oktober comes in clutch when celebrating all the joys of postseason baseball and enjoying biergarten hangs. Prost!

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 355mL in a pint glass. From Erie St. Gastropub's bottle shop in nearby downtown Windsor. Canned July 25/24. My 13th beer from the Toronto, Ontario brewery, and 4th for 2026. Embraced by Sundae the cat...

Pours chill hazed gold with a rocky, long lasting head. Nutty, toasty malts fill the nose. The taste is malt forward with bready, caramel, herbal notes in abundance. Light herbal hops provide balance. The mouthfeel is full bodied with medium carbonation. A malty yet dry and short finish.

A fantastic Fest beer. Very well rounded and complex.

On tap at Left Field Brewery off Lake Ontario in Toronto, purchasing a few cans to go.
Pours a clear bright golden colour with streaming carbonation and a finger of creamy white head.
Bready, doughy malt on the nose - soft floral notes, honey graham crackers, and a hint of citrus.
Sweet bready, doughy malt, honey on the palate - again a bit of floral hop character, trace of spicy hop with minimal bitterness.
Crisp, smooth medium mouthfeel - bright and at the same time offering a little chewiness.
Absolutely loved this Festbier - along with a Dortmunder from a central Alberta brewery, perhaps my favourite beer of the summer.

355 mL can from the LCBO; dated Jul 25 2024 and served barely chilled.

Pours a foggy golden-blonde colour, topped with more than a finger of soapy, foamy white head that dissipates within a minute or two. A thin collar remains, with little else of interest - maybe a smidge of lace here and there after a few sips. The aroma is earthy, dirty and pointedly herbaceous, interspersed with notes of grain and biscuit.

A flavourful lager with plenty of grainy, bready malt character; I'm also getting notes of biscuit and caramel. Noble hops come through on the back end, adding grassy hay and herbal, earthy notes to the mix; finishes grainy & grassy with a touch of honey sweetness, quickly fading to dry. Light in body, with reactive carbonation that froths up in the mouth; later in the session, when it has exhausted itself, the mouthfeel is crisp and closer to what I want from a festbier.

Final Grade: 3.61, a B grade. Mr. Oktober is a good German-style lager, but I must admit it's not really what I'm looking for from a festbier - as has been mentioned previously, it does drink a lot like a pilsener (and don't get me wrong, I love pilseners). I've enjoyed most of the Left Field brews I've had over the years, and even though this is competently brewed, it does not rank amongst their stronger efforts IMO. Still worth a try if you love German lagers - think of this as a poor man's Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier.

Poured a 355 ml can into a pint glass. A two finger fine white head on a clear gold. Good head retention. Some patchy lacing.
Grains and some biscuit in the nose.
Malts up front. A very slight hop finish.
Medium body and carbonation.
A pretty god Festbier. Definitely leaning towards the the more modern paler version of the style.

355 ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for $3.55 CDN. Canned July 31, 2023.

Appearance - Perfectly clear golden brew with a small half finger of white head on top that fizzles away in a couple of minutes.

Smell - Lots of bready aspects, some light sweetness and bakery-esque.

Taste - Lots of bread, toasted malts, light bitterness and great intensity of flavor. Some cooked veggies in there too, which are aren;t the best flavor combo. A little spiciness afterwards.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, leaning towards the heavier side, with light but crisp carbonation and a clean finish with some chewiness afterwards. Warming finish.

Overall - Good solid brew.

Bright, rich golden body, slight haze; doesn't manage to hold a head.
Mild aroma, almost candy sweet caramel malt, touch of banana toffee.
The taste is very much in line with the aroma - sweet malt, corn flakes, hint of wheat, ripe banana, butterscotch in a minimal way; low carbonation, feel is sticky.

Not much to say, it's pretty uninteresting, sweet, unbalanced. It's not far off for the style, but too sweet.

I bought 2 cans 355ml at 5.4%.
Ingredients is water ,malted barley, hops, yeast.
Poured into glass with 1finger head that quickly disappeared and looked flat slow carbonation.
Easy drinking doesn't really remind me of a festbier but it's good and enjoyable when you drink it cold .
Cheers

Can from LCBO - pours a pale gold with a 1 finger cap......aroma is demure - boiled grains and some grassiness.....sharp effervescent character, light bodied- flavor has light pilsner malts in balance with some noble hop earthiness....fast wet, dry finish....really not a festbier, more like a pilsner and certainly not an Oktoberfest Marzen....no off tastes but very hum-drum and disappointing.

Medium straw in color, pretty much crystal clear, perfectly white frothy head; nice retention with splotch lacing.

Nice malty nose, very aromatic in nature; hint of something sweet with floral undertones.

Taste mirrors the nose, same deep rich pale malt, ever so slight white grape like sweetness.

Light to medium in body, vigorous yet smooth and soft creamy carbonation on the tongue, a low nice little bitterness. Absolutely clean; dry and instantly vanishing finish.

This beer is awesome, perfectly drinkable and a perfect combination of flavors.
