Welcome to the field, the Liberty Village Long Shots! Our first brew in our new home, Long Shot Pale Ale is smooth and hazy with flavours of pineapple and orange peel with a gently earthy finish. Named for the previous home of our Liberty Village scoreboard – Downers Grove, Illinois – and their youth travel team, the Longshots.

355 mL can from the LCBO; dated Apr 16 2024 and served barely chilled.
Pours a hazy golden-amber colour, topped with one inch of loose, bubbly white head that vanishes within two or three minutes; afterwards, a frorthy collar and spotty cap remain, with a decent smattering of lace speckled onto the glass. Prominent notes of pineapple juice on the nose, accompanied by hints of mandarin orange slices in syrup, grapefruit and floral hops.
Good stuff - not amazing or anything, but the flavours are fine. I'm getting grapefruit and orange with hints of pineapple and passion fruit; slightly earthy and resiny at the finish. Pithy aftertaste that quickly fades to off-dry. Light in body, with moderately assertive carbonation that adds a firm bite to this brew's crisp, relatively watery mouthfeel. Easy to toss back in multiples, but I feel like I would get bored of this pale ale after a can or two.
Final Grade: 3.71, a B grade. Left Field's Long Shot is fine - it's difficult to get too invested in this brew, because it doesn't really instill any strong feelings one way or the other. Its flavours are acceptable, and I enjoyed the pineapple-y aroma, but there's no real depth and its thin mouthfeel doesn't help its case much. This brewery has produced much better pale ales in the past, but Long Shot may still be worth taking a flyer on, if you're looking for a lighter, session-worthy option.
