We’ve slammed a triple into the Power Alley with this colossal 10% Triple IPA. Citra, Citra Cryo and Nelson Sauvin hops come together to deliver a ripe tropical fruit bomb - think pineapple, passion fruit and mango - with a juicy citrus zing. The high ABV of this triple IPA is well balanced by the bold fruit flavours and a smooth, slightly sweet finish that leaves virtually no perceived hop bitterness. A smash hit!

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 355mL in a pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. No date stamp or lot number. My 9th beer from the Toronto, Ontario brewery, and 7th for 2025. Instantly loved by Sundae the cat...

Pours a lightly hazed deep gold with a small but long lasting head. Pineapple, pine tar hops mix with wet grains and cookie dough in the nose. The taste is tropical fruit hops up front with a lot of chewy, bready malts and some alcohol spiciness in the back. Full bodied with high carbonation. High bitterness and loads of maltiness in the long finish.
A nice DIPA with a more balanced, malty profile. Worth a try.

355 mL can from the LCBO; dated Sep 10 2024 and served barely chilled. Reviewed from notes taken last December.
Pours hazy and turbid, its golden yellow-hued body supporting half an inch of frothy, foamy white head that melts away within a couple of minutes. A thin collar of suds is left over, encircling a patch of film on the surface; very scant lace production. Moderately boozy & acidic aroma suggestive of gooseberry, pineapple, grapefruit and melon.
It's tastes ok, but for once I find myself glad that Left Field has such an affinity for short cans - a tallboy really would've been overkill. Fruity, citrusy flavours of muddled orange & grapefruit, lime zest and berries are backed by a bready, wheaty malt sweetness. Boozy throughout, but especially on the back end - the 10% is not particularly well-integrated IMO. Finishes with more muddled citrus and tropical fruits, concluding with a boozy, acidic finish and an astringent aftertaste. Full-bodied, with moderately low carbonation that rolls peacefully along the tongue, resulting in a soft, smooth, fluffy-feeling texture. Poor drinkability, but at 10% you'll forgive me if I give this one a pass.
Final Grade: 3.7, a B grade. Power Alley is my least favourite of the six beers in this mixed pack, but it was at a disadvantage to start with. While I can appreciate most double IPAs, triples are frequently a bridge too far for my delicate sensibilities - in other words, the extra booze typically hurts more than it helps, and this brew is no exception. The Cryo Citra pops nicely, but Nelson Sauvin is a more delicate/subtle strain, which kind of gets lost in the heat. I'm sure I'd give this another shot if I happened upon a fresh single, but it's not a huge priority.

Review from notes. 355ml can as part of Left Field's IPA pack.
Appearance - Hazy dark golden/ yellow in color. Small head with good staying power.
Smell - Loads of pineapple with a bevy of other citrus in there, but the pineapple stands out. A bit hot and boozy.
Taste - Pineapple with some sort of sharp booziness. Lots of other citrus too.
Mouthfeel - Full-bodied with good carbonation, bordering on too hot but it's not.
Overall - Very good TIPA with pineapple focus.
