Crushed! Passionfruit IPA goes deep with a swing of Citra hop tropical flavours and mango aroma up front, and a 190kg drive of juicy passionfruit pureé added during fermentation. Followed through with an extra dose of tropical fruit flavours from the addition of El Dorado hops, Crushed! is a super sunny and massively flavourful IPA that knocks it out of the park.

Contains wheat.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. Canned May 26/25. My 11th beer from the Toronto, Ontario brewery, and 1st for 2026. Radically recommended by Gracie the cat...

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated May 26 2025 and served slightly chilled.

Pours a hazy yellow-orange colour, scaring up one finger of loose, frothy white head that settles off within a minute or two. A thin collar is the only remnant of note, with scant lace deposition; looks like a fruit beer. Passion fruit dominates the nose, though there are also hints of mango, gooseberry and pineapple.

The flavours follow the nose, with passion fruit alongside notes of grapefruit, mango, apricot and pear; grapefruit pith, coconut and resiny bitterness bring up the rear, lingering into an acidic aftertaste of passion fruit, citrus and mango that lingers for a second or two. Medium-full bodied, with assertive carbonation that remains prickly and pointy right down to the last couple of swigs. Between the carbonation and the acidity, I didn't find this especially drinkable, but finishing one serving is doable.

Final Grade: 3.65, a serviceable B grade. I've tried quite a few different Left Field IPAs over the last decade, and I'm sad to say that Crushed! does not rank all that highly amongst them. The passion fruit flavours are clearly authentic, and nice enough in and of themselves... but the hops aren't robust enough to really stand up to the onslaught of tart tropical fruitiness. The bitterness also kind of clashes with the juicy/fruity aspect, which makes for a somewhat disjointed flavour profile. I might try this beer again at some point, and wouldn't discourage others from trying it, but I don't think it's an especially great IPA.

473ml can served cold into a weizen glass. LCBO purchase. Canned June 25, 2025.

Appearance - Rather hazy yellowy brew with some orange-ish highlights. A finger and a half of sparkly white head is poured, sadly on a small foamy cap is left after mere moments. No lacing to speak of.

Smell - Passionfruit and mango combo, with good and fairly intense aromatics.

Taste - Passionfruit up front, transitioning into a semi bitter brew. There is some sweetness in there and mango shines through as well. The one note it does well, but there's only one note.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, fairly juicy and modest carbonation. Juicier than average.

Overall - A fine IPA that delves deeply into a tasty passionfruit mango combo. If you love those flavors, Crushed! is for you, otherwise it's a passable IPA with good nose, but lacking a bit of depth.
