This ale is an argument for creating yet one more style on BA: The Imperial NEIPA. Until that happens, NEIPA is all we get here.
I say that somewhat in in the dark. Standard's website is not as well-organized as their beer intuition. I couldn't find a 9.6 Philistine on their site that looked like a NEIPA. So, I'm making a good guess this is an addition to BA. I bought this from Tavour. Their thoughtful, witty reviews make me think a new style should be in the offing.
By the way, the cleanly-designed can announces to hop connoisseurs that Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy are involved. It also tells the hop cognoscenti (not me) that this is a DDHDIPA. (What are you guys talking about?)
What I can tell you about Phillistine that is extraordinary is it almost made a malt-head like me like hops. But, let's take it from the top.
Phillistine Looks like a NEIPA... and always will: decent foam after an hour, sufficient lace and what will soon be recognized as a classic NEIPA color (sorry, I can't describe it.) Its NEIPA bouquet is dominated by pineapple. Tastes deliver the juice and without the bitter that turns my buds to stone. As for the mouth, it's happy for this moderation.
My next brew from Standard will be from the Belgian tradition. I had one last month that was exquisite and I want Tavour to give me another chance. As for Standard's website, get with the program: organize it professionally... hence my low OA score to a talented brewer.
