Listed at taproom: "an IPA brewed with Garam Masala and dry hopped with Centennial hops". I probably should have added this as a spice beer (or chile beer; it does remind me *slightly* of Theobroma), despite the listing as an IPA by the brewer. My ratings are based off a spice/chile beer style, despite what I originally added it as.
Pours mostly clear with small bubble head collecting at the edges.
The smell is the strength of the beer (for a chile/spice beer, it's kinda bad for an IPA). I am hit in the face with licorice smell (maybe star anise) backed by other spices including maybe cloves and some black pepper. Very nice.
The taste follows the nose, but much muted. The taste is actually kind of crisp and light underneath the spices. There is some bitterness hiding that peeks its head out in the end, but never takes the stage. There is also a bit of bite from the spices in the end.
This was an interesting beer. I think I will but in a change request on the style so people aren't taken by surprise.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
