This West Coast style Imperial IPA is another prong in the trifecta inspired by Japanime. Using the original citrus fruit - Pomelo - the impact is subtle and well-balanced.

On tap at brewery (ghost 170)
Pours a golden orange, with the lightest of haze. Head is spotty by mid-drink, but does last that long, with some lacing.

Nose is west coast pine, grapefruit pith, and a hint of what may be the pomelo, as it's a more citrus than bitter in nature. There is a light alcohol burn in the nose, also, mildly detracting from the rest of the nose. The combination dies add a strange soaked berry feel to the smell.

Taste starts with the pine and grapefruit, as well as grass, mint, some pear. The citrus comes in mid taste, a tangerine/sweet lime/grapefruit flavor. It comes forward slowly and eventually wins out over the front taste for prominence, but doesn't eliminate the opening flavors.

The feel is refreshingly/dangerously light. I feel a draw on the tongue despite a mildly slick ending. Carbonation is not strong, but works well.

The flavors are fairly complex and interesting. I think the base beer without the added flavor is pretty good, and the citrus adds to the flavor rather than combatting it.
