"Raisins and Toffee, Subtle Cherries play with Caramel Notes
Latin for new beginning. Failure to begin anew is a failure to live. One taste of Nova Initia and you know you are alive and that you are thankful for new possibilities - No matter the hint of sour that might, in brief moments, linger in your mouth."

On tap at brewery:
Hoping this isn't a one-off as it is expected to be. Hope they take the recipe they worked on with a member and tweak/repeat it.
Pour is short of black, mahogany with a light reddish or burgundy hue when looking at something in the edges through the clear brew. Head lasts all pour, even if it isn't significant at any one point.
Nose is spot on with raisin (with its tartness), date (sweetness), and cherry. There is also just a hint of vinegar tartness, which I can't tell if it is intended or not. This might be the effect of the cherries that are purported to be "in play".
Taste hits on the notes from the nose, but is buoyed by a candied malt, somewhat cola/root beer in nature. Again, no surprises overall, dark bread and dark fruit, light sweetness. Feel is maybe a bit low on body, but is smooth and drinkable despite a quick burn of alcohol mid-to-end taste.
Posted this because I was impressed. A nice brew by more than just the professionals - presumably - and well done, regardless.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
