A new take for a tried-and-true favorite, this CULT offering shows that citrus is not just for the light-bodied brews. Here it adds a surprising finish to the rich coffee and smooth vanilla flavors of a fine stout.

On tap at brewery:
Pours a thin dark brown with tiny bubbled head than ends up at the sides.
Nose is nice and silky-seeming chocolate and coffee. I think it's the vanilla smoothing the edges of both. Candied citrus notes are subdued.
Reversal from the nose: while the coffee opens the taste, the orange rushes in with a charred malt bitterness. The citrus is bright and livens and lightens the brew nicely. End turns a little chocolatey, but I never really get much vanilla. Alcohol is decently well hidden, maybe a light tingle at the end.
Refreshing beer, quite an interesting adjustment for an imperial stout. Definitely lighter than the closest widely available similar beer (Choklat Oranj) - more subtle and smooth, not nearly as bold or sweet.
