Sent to me by generous BA @jvgoor3786 recently. I don't see any obvious bottle date, but I'm certain it's a recent release. Pouring it in my 13oz. tulip and letting it sit out for 20 minutes after pulling it from the fridge.
Look- Pours a hazy dark red/orange with a generous finger of off white foam. Beautiful lacing clings to the glass as it slowly recedes.
Smell- Sour grapes and a strange band aid aroma in the back.
Taste- It begins with ripe green grapes and a little sweetness, followed by a bit of sour apple. A slight hop bite and some malt backbone follow. Lastly there's a bit of earthy wood in the finish.
Feel- Slick and creamy with some hop bitterness and a dry finish. The 11 percent abv. is very well hidden.
Overall- Aside from what I perceived to be an odd aroma, this was a very complex and enjoyable beer. The flavors really shine at the recommended serving temperature of 54-57 degrees. There are characteristics that remind me of Russian River sours. A big beer that is packed with flavor and dangerously drinkable even at 11 percent. I'm glad I was fortunate to have been given a chance to try.
