Poured from the bottle into a large snifter glass. N0. 0001/0841 Ghost 493.
Dark walnut brown body, thick and very dark mocha brown creamy head upon the pour. Settles to a lighter tan collar and quite bubbly, with nice legs and weeping spotted lacing. Good dark and impressive looking big stout.
Excellent classic fruit and char tones. Fruited strawberry and black licorice notes. Definitely in the Courage vein going on here, with good char, and a big thick malt backbone. Intensely fruity ester with a subdued and almost smokey roast character also. Excellent stuff.
First sip though takes out much. Very thin body, and nearly watery which dials down the flavors considerably. Washing roast and hints of blueberry and strong berried fruit in the mid palate. Oily complementing tobacco notes on the finish, with some good hop bitteness and bite. Minimal char and a bit of lacking roast body unfortunately.
Comes off as a big winner, but is taken down quite a notch by a weakend mouthfeel

The appearance is pretty nice. It pours a brown head creamy head that dissipates quickly but leaves a nice ring around the inside of the glass. The beer itself is a really nice dark chocolate black.
The smell is good. It has a nice strong and moderate hazelnut note that mixes well with the roast and dark chocolate notes.
The taste is pretty good. It's a nice combination of roasted malts and dark chocolate with a strong hazelnut note to it. The beer has a very nice sweet cherry note in the finish. While I preferred it in the regular body, the finish is a nice surprise and finish to it.
The feel is pretty good. It's a heavy bodied beer that is pretty smooth. It seems to be a bit thinner than other other versions but not in a bad way. Rather, it's more drinkable with the fuzzy carbonation.
Overall, an interesting improvement over the old 3.0 version in terms of flavor strength and feel. It's a pretty good one and I really do recommend getting it since it can compete with some of the more nationally distributed beers.
