The beer pours an okay head that dissipates very quickly. The beer itself is a dark black but with hints of red and orange. It's a very nice look that makes up for the lackluster head.
The smell is good. Instead of a dark, roasty, and chocolate note, the beer has a pretty good fruity smell with notes of apricot fruit, currants, and some light sweet cherry. The apricot is the strongest note and the currents and a nice tart note. The chocolate is light and sweet such that it gets lost sometimes in the smell. It's definitely unique for the style and that is in a good way.
The taste is pretty good as well. It has a stronger fruit note and is more tarty than your average porter. The chocolate is still there and sweet but a little bit muted.
The feel is good. It's nice and smooth with a light carbonation. It essentially resembles more of a cask aging kind of feel.
Overall, an interesting beer and worth seeking out while available. It has a unique profile and a good cask like feel to it that makes it worth it.
