2017 bottle in 2022. Didn't come out sour but just was bland. Aged too long. Still drinkable but not very tasty overall. My bad. Was supposed to be opened last year.

2017 vintage; drank 6/30/19 @ the Yarchives.
Black appearance.
A rough pour yielded a small tan head; frothy lace.
Fresh earth, red wine, oak & bakers chocolate notes in the nose.
Thick mouthfeel.
Bakers chocolate & red wine flavors up front; oak & fresh earth notes on the finish.
Robust & a bit challenging; it's not boring but a little goes a long way.

A: This poured an opaque black with a little tan head.
S: It smelled like tannic red wine and musty oak, with some bitter dark chocolate and espresso and molasses.
T: It tasted like bitter dark chocolate and espresso, with some tannic red wine and oak. It had a clean and bitter metallic aftertaste.
M: It was thick and oily with a little carbonation. Great big body.
D: This was an interesting brew with bold and complex scent and taste. The red wine character complemented the stout elements. The body was great, but the finish was a little harsh, so it was better to sip. Age would probably help mellow it. Fresh was still enjoyable and definitely unique.
