Warming rays crest the horizon. Hovering mist rises, providing a chill that penetrates the bones of the vigilant warriors. A crimson blanket covers the battleground reflecting the forthcoming massacre. Soldiers advance towards their enemies as the Tanegashima rings out, bellowing it's final cautionary cry...
Thunderous marching
Their katanas clash with force
First severed head falls
Tasting notes:
Explosive aromatics of grapefruit, melon & lychee, creamy body, dry finish with low bitterness.

Smokey gold colored with a head that leaves a ring of fog like lacing, a little sporadic and dense at times. Nose is the crescendo you like to experience in these, with equally bombastic elements of citrus, earthy vegetal presence and a sandy bitter. Taste carries primarily the orange family of citrus, with maybe hints of garlic around the edges. Feel is right thick for the style, with a nice dryness about the finish. Overall a good beer.

12oz balloon tulip at MP for $9++. Nose isn't too fragrant with some mild orange and grapefruit. Some weird phenols in the taste, maybe an off ferment. This one is close, but it could be more acidic and clean up the yeast profile.

Really enjoyed this beer. Had it on draft; looks opaque but not super think, smells mostly citrus, tastes a little tart with maybe some pineapple (?) there was a lot going on. Would recommend.

Poured from the bottle into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Bottled June 28th 2017.
Creamy top and fine bubbled off white head. Manages about two slightly tall fingers, with an island creamy top, and little lacing, but some staying power. Looks like a flattened nice meringue top. Slightly opaque but decent clarity with a golden amber body color, a little bit of rising carbonation.
Dank earth hop aroma, with a bit of interesting pine blast. Faint hints of pickle juice and brine. Quite a bit of a mix but a little unexpected. Hints slightly juicy as well, but faintly.
Interesting palate. Mixes real nice thick hop aroma and flavors. Juiced earth with faint touches of really soft caramel. Flirts with a creamy mouthfeel but is just a little flattened, but luckily not syrupy slick or sweet. Good herbal to pine aromatic blasting finish, mixing in with some classic icing sugar malt sweet tones too.
A pretty neat take that is more all it's own and quite tasty.

L: Poured from a bottle to a tulip glass. Had an amber color and a lightly hazy consistency. There was a half inch of foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Decent lacing.
S: A nice aroma of hops, malt, pine, citrus, and a dank quality.
T: Tasted of good shot of malt, a nice amount of citrus (orange, especially), a bit of pine (less than I thought), lots of hops, the aforementioned dank quality, and a tinge of tropical fruit. An interesting, extremely well-balanced flavor with a lot of complexity. Very tasty and likable.
F: A well-carbonated beer with a somewhat slick finish. Medium-bodied.
O: EBK is an incredibly well done and drinkable beer. Easy to drink and very focused.

On tap at brewery:
Pours a pale amber, aided by a significant but not complete haze. Head was about a finger on my pour. Midway through there's an island and a thick collar of near white foam. Lacing is fairly significant.
Nose is passionfruit, nectarine, grapefruit, and leaning to the tart side. Auxiliary general tropical notes and a pine or mint note that sneaks in the back of each inhalation.
Taste starts like the nose, but not quite into tart range. Grapefruit and passionfruit somehow cancel each other to produce a nice juice note. Lightly tingling carbonation comes through a medium body, barely on the soft side body, and acts as a break between this and the more bitter ending. The bitterness seems to start with a light spice (perhaps a note of alcohol helps here) note before going more pith and slowly and eventually to a little piney.
A nice version where there's a juice aspect but it still has a classic IPA bitterness. The bitterness isn't overly strong, and plays along with the juice notes, mostly.
