[Black Limes + Black Lava Salt + Black Pepper]
A genre bending Black Gose with tart flavors from the Limes, a sharp bite from the pepper, and a refreshing palate cleansing brininess from the salt.

Another one of those beers that is going to be lower score-wise to style, but I try to split the difference a bit and always use the overall score to compensate. And this one is quite enjoyable.

A very fizzy, even audibly, pour. It is black with a tan head that disappeared pretty quickly.

It smells a lot like a Schwarzbier with some tangy lime.

It tastes like chocolate malts, lime juice, and salty with an intermittent pepperiness.
Definitely a lingering black pepper flavor along with a sourness.

Body is light, crisp, and bitting.

An interesting beer. I would describe it as a Schwarzbier-Margarita Gose. One that I would drink again.

On tap at brewery:
Well it is a “black Gose” so it’s dark brown color isn’t scoring it down, but its fleeting head and slight murkiness is - an average looking beer.

Nose is an oddly charred/seasoned chocolate malt, strange and enticing, with the pepper seeming to aid the chocolate impression. The lime and salt are nicely present, creating a quite interesting aroma.

Flavor starts a little sweet, then the lime comes in to give a brief limeade impression. The apparent sweet malt profile brings in the chocolate from the nose. Salt softens the brew and adds a fair amount of its own flavor. The black pepper seems to shift in and out, being more obvious in some sips and absent or at least well integrated in others. Lime carries through to the end.

Ok, this review isn’t to the listed style, as the beer doesn’t really fit one. A fun drink that could maybe be enjoyed more by me if it was a little more dry in feeling as I’m not sure if my other thought (a little more bite from the pepper) would help or distract.
