A re-brew of our previous edition. Rich notes of treacle, caramel, and apparent alcohol with a relatively light body and semi-sweet finish. More English than American, it drinks great now but could be aged for later.

I actually had "Ghost 1018", from a 16 oz can, poured into a Spiegelau barrel-aged glass at ~40 degrees F and allowed to warm during consumption.
L: Poured a clear deep ruddy amber, and formed a few fingers of pale tan head with good retention.
S: Interesting. Caramel, with an almost cotton candy sweet note to it, and a slurry of cherry, fig, raisin, and plum beneath.
T: Not unlike the nose, this opens with fruited sweetness - caramel and light-colored toffee, with some melted brown sugar, beside a melange of cherries, raisins, figs, and plums. Deep underneath, there are hints of some earth, leather, and vinous qualities.
F: To the medium side of full, and sticky.
O: This is a rather delicious barleywine, as far as I am concerned. Bitter lovers may not enjoy this one.

Canned 9/24/20
Pours a light fizzy off-white head with med-lower retention, touch of lacing, decent legs, hazy orange-red color
Nose brings big sweet malt, lots of caramel and toffee candy, fair fruity esters, fair cherry, bit of plum, light phenol and smooth peppery alcohol, almost like it has a bit of buttery oak as well, little toasted reddish malt,
Taste brings more sweet malt, big heavy malt, reddish toasty slight biscuity malt, lots of caramel and toffee as well as syrup again, more of the fruity esters with ripe cherry and some plum again, light perfumey alcohol and a little phenol spice, herbal spicy hops kick in with med-lighter bitterness,
Mouth is med to fuller bod, med frothy carb, a little warming alcohol
Overall not bad, decent malt character, decent hops, a little rough around the edges and can use some time to mellow, or a nice barrel aging

Can dated 9/24/20 into pint glass. Pours a hazy-opaque deep amber with a thin off-white head. Initial impression is malty, sticky, and boozy. Mouthfeel is on the heavy side; carbonation is minimal but adequate. Finish is sweet-ish, sticky, and leaves you with a noticeable alcohol burn. Maybe I should have cellared it for a year, but a) I'm too impatient for that and b) I only bought one can. Quite tasty fresh. Recommended.
