Full bodied and intense, but less roasty than our previous batch of Dia De Los Muertos and What Evil Lurks. Notes of dark chocolate and coffee roast are balanced with malty sweetness to mitigate residual bitterness.

Aroma is yeast/dark bread, dark malts and chocolate. The flavor is dark malts, fruit/dark fruit/mild vinous/scotch, chocolate and an acidic/gassy/warming alcoholic finish.

Undated can into pint glass. Pours a very dark brown (SRM 38-40) with a nice tan head. Good lacing. Initial impression is roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and sweet malt. Let this one warm a bit and you won't be disappointed. Mouthfeel is creamy and thick. Alcohol is quite well hidden. Finish is dark chocolate and just a touch of bitterness. Good stuff!

Dark pour with very little head. Slight lacing as it drinks. Lots of roasted coffee notes on the nose with just a tinge of booziness as it warms. Creamy, dark chocolate on the tongue with a smoky finish. The flavors really come alive with it warming to room temperature.

Can / Snifter glass / No food pairing

L: Poured from a tallboy can to a pint glass. Had a dark brown / almost black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, tan-colored, fairly long-lasting head. Average lacing.

S: A pretty good, but not great, aroma of coffee, malt, chocolate, and booze.

T: Tasted of a good amount of malt (a big feature here), a slight tinge of booze (not an overpowering amount, though), some coffee (could've used more), a slight creaminess (a fleeting characteristic), and mild chocolate notes. This is an uneven flavor that's in need of a little boost in its ingredients. Still, not bad.

F: A fair amount of carbonation with a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: An uneven beer, but it has its charms. Worth a look.
