From the 16 oz can in a snifter via Bluejacket74----Cheers Dude!
This solid brew pours a dark blackish brown with a very nice head of
khaki foam that settles to a thick ring, thin dusty layer, and sports some
rather nice lacing. Nose of dark bakers chocolate, earthy malts, char,
subtle smoke, dark berry notes, and light salt with touches of maple.
Flavors follow and lightly expand on the nose with a mighty fine presentation
of mineral heavy salt, earthy malts, dark cocoa, dark coffee touches, dark
berry hints of black and raspberry, tobacco notes, light maple and light
anise notes which are most likely the black strap molasses with touches of
smoke and roast. Nice mouth feel; medium body, low but soft carbonation,
and a medium dry finish.
Overall----solid. Just a well presented brew!
Cheers

16 ounce can, canned 01/06/21, can #03221 of 10,000. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head that stuck around a while. Good amount of lacing, too. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like burnt/charred malt, molasses, salt, wood, coffee and dark chocolate. I think the taste is pretty much like the aroma, but with the addition of some maple, anise and earthiness. There's a lot going on here, but no one flavor overpowers the others. Does get more bitter/roasty/salty the longer I drink it. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's a bit slick and creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good overall brew, recommend this one if you're into imperial porters that are more roasty/bitter than sweet tasting.

16oz can from Tavour. Dark brown pour, silky cap of beige head. Smoky, roasty aroma, woody. Taste introduces light maple notes, more roast, light chocolate and coffee flavors. Hint of warmth, lingering bitterness. Smooth, rich, full.

Canned 2021/01/06
Pours a tan frothy 1 finger head with moderate retention, messy lacing, jet black color
Nose is almost black IPA level, roasted malts, some charred smokey notes from the roast, little nougat and cereal malted milk ball, hint of cocoa, effervescent spice perfumey alcohol that gets a touch fusel, big earthy spicy hops that don't play well
Taste brings loads more dark chocolate and black malts, cocoa, dark chocolate, creamy oats, nougat, more wafer cookie notes, some roast and char notes, more perfumey tingly alcohol that gets a tad anesthesizing, a bit milk dud candy, big hops again, spicy, earthy, bitter chewy hops, a bit of anise as well, big clash again between hops and malts, drier finish a bit more tingly alcohol
Mouth is med to fuller bod, creamy soft, med foamy carb, some tingly hot alcohol
Overall not great, big clash between hops and malts, doesn't really do well as a porter, Imperial porter that's more like Imperial Black IPA almost, and alcohol was hot

Ordered from Tavour and chilled in the fridge for a couple weeks. Poured relatively hard into an imperial pint glass.
Look: dark back with a thin tan head and a nice tan lacing down the glass.
Smell: smells like a mix between a Baltic porter and a sweet stout. Light notes of black strap molasses, some roast and light pine.
Taste: taste follows the smell, but the black strap molasses is up front and in the nose, following dark notes of dark chocolate, heavy bitter roast and a trailing end of bitter pine (but light). The maple is so light that I am not sure we really get the difference between molasses and maple.
Feel: medium body beer with heavy carbonation, but smooth finish.
We lived in Virginia for a couple years before moving to the West Coast. We ordered this one for two reasons, it is from Adroit (love this place) and it said maple. For Bren, if you say maple, it better be maple. So I think she was a little disappointed with this one, but overall it is a nice, sweet imperial porter that hides the almost 10% ABV. This beer borders sweet stout for those that love the sweet toasty stouts.
Cheers everyone!

Can dated 1/6/21 into pint glass. Pours a very dark brown (SRM 37-38) with a thin tan head. Initial impression is blackstrap molasses, dark chocolate, caramel, roasted malts, and salt. Mouthfeel is thick and silky. Alcohol is quite well hidden. Finish is sweet and roasty. Overall, a really enjoyable Imperial Porter (I think edging toward Imperial Stout, but YMMV).

Poured moderately hard from a tall can into a snifter glass forming a few fingers brown head. The head slowly faded to heavy lacing with persistent legs. Totally opaque brown/black color. Smell is prominently black salt. Taste follows the smell, with black salt forward and roasty porter in the background. Medium bodied with a mild bite of carbonation. If you like black salt, this is quite good.
