A pretty standard RIS, a bit subtle. Dark brown colors with tan edging, foamy head, creamy light lacing. Mildly roasted malt scent, hints of sweet dark fruit. Taste is best described as sublime-plenty of dark roasted malt but it’s not bitter or overpowering, bit of chocolate and coffee. Mouth watering finish, medium bodied, a bit thin (but not in a bad way), booze hides well. Adroit Theory has become one of my favorite “new to me” breweries.

Look: It pours very dark brown, almost black. It has a medium brown head with good head retention.
Smell: There are some strong plum aromas up front with roast and coffee. It has a sweetness in the aroma as well.
Taste: It has strong roast and some coffee up front with a light burnt flavor. There are medium plum flavors with strong alcohol.
Feel: It has a full body with strong alcohol warming that veers into a hot side. (Lightly)
Overall, nice flavors with a little more on the burnt side that I like, but still produces a decent finish overall.

16 oz can, poured into a stout glass at ~40 degrees F and allowed to warm during consumption.
L: Pours your standard stout impenetrable black. Forms a finger and a half or so of tan head with good retention.
S: Cold, the nose on this is chocolate and dark bread, with some plum notes, and a tinge that reminds me of ox bile. As it warms, the ox bile note fades into something more coffeelike, and hints of earth emerge.
T: When cold, this opens as a dark bread sprinkled with cool ashes. Some faint chocolate notes waft through the background as it moves along, and a slightly soured plum and anise quality emerge. As it warms, a subtle vanilla tone begins to manifest, while the chocolate presence swells and the ashes turn more to char.
F: Full, but towards the thinner edge of full.
O: A solid RIS.

Aroma is dark/roasted malts, chocolate and mild dark fruit. The flavor is dark fruit, roasted malts and a big acidic/slightly sweet rocky road chocolate finish.
