The third release in our single hop edition of West Coast IPAs is a doozy! Exclusively hopped with Sultana, this effervescent and crisp West Coast IPA offers forward notes of overripe pineapple with slight grapefruit and pine and assertive finishing bitterness.

Adroit Theory Brewing Co. "DEATH.NET (Ghost 1078)"
16 fl. oz. can, "CANNED ON L3 10/13/21 SULTANA OF SWING". Sampled on 11/21/2.
$5.03 @ State Line Liquors, Elkton, MD
Notes via stream of consciousness: This beer is made exclusively with Sultana hops which I'm not familiar with. I may have had them before but I don't remember them. It's poured a hazy golden body beneath a standard-sized head of slightly off-white foam. The aroma isn't really that bright but that's OK, nowhere does the label say that it's dry-hopped or anything like that. It's got a little bit of citrus to it, a smear of pineapple, and a hint of spiciness over a lightly bready malt base. The taste is pretty much the same, but of course with bitterness. I'm gonna guess that it's about 70 IBUs but it could be even higher than that. The malt is basic, but kind of dry, and there is a peppery spiciness to it. I'm wondering wether there's some rye in here. That could be throwing off my IBU perception. The hops are not nearly as fruity as I thought they might be. I'm still getting pineapple and generic citrus but nothing else. There's some apple but that's probably coming from the yeast. It's OK but it's nothing exciting or new, just a solid IPA. In the mouth it's medium bodied and gently crisp. What's the ABV on this? 7%, OK, that's about right. I certainly wouldn't go out of my way for this, but I wouldn't be disappointed if I showed up to a party and this was the only beer they had.

Can dated 9/29/21 into pint glass. Pours a clear gold with a persistent off-white head. Initial impression is juicy pineapple, citrus rind, and pine. Mouthfeel is fresh and clean. Finish is slightly bitter. Overall, a very enjoyable but unremarkable West Coast IPA.
