It's been almost 3 years since we dropped our original collaboration with Drum & Bass DJ Dieselboy (aka DESTROYER NYC who also slays many of our labels). This is a full bodied porter jam packed with flavor. Roasty, Chocolate Notes are Balanced by Sweet Maple and Sharp Molasses; Slight Saltiness.

BLVCK (blackstrap, black salt, maple destruction) from Adroit Theory. Four-pack of 16 fl oz cans purchased from Adroit Theory on-line, Purcellville, VA, ordered 04/08/25 received 16/10/25 - $34.66 (Including shipping!)/$ 0.542/fl oz. Reviewed 19/10/25, review 3614. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. Stored at home at 40 degrees F. Served at 45.1 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 49.6 degrees F.
Appearance – 4
First pour – Brown (SRM 20), nearly opaque.
Body – Black (SRM 40), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, same, with light penetrating at the edges, amber brown.
Head – Average (Maximum 1.8 cm, aggressive center pour). Caramel, high density, average retention, leaving a 0.7 – 0.9 cm crown and a thin, rocky cap.
Lacing – Good. Tight bands of near-microscopic to tint bubbles, exhibiting multiple tiny stalactites between bands
Aroma – 3.5 – Very weak coffee, no hops, no malt, no alcohol.
Flavor – 3.5 – Begins moderately bitter with weak coffee. No hops, no alcohol (9.99 % ABV, according to the label). No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Mild gastric warming.
Palate – 3 – Medium: Watery edging into suggestion of creamy: Lively carbonation.
Style: Generally follows the style guidelines as condensed by BA, except for a marked lack of sweetness.
Final impression and summation: 3.25 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated container) Uncredited art work. Bitter coffee porter – what is the significance of the (blackstrap, black salt, maple destruction) BS? Nothing to do with the flavor. Fruit Fly ignored.
