Brewed as with mostly pilsner malt and a dash of aromatic malt, this brew is all about showcasing the mash up: Belgian yeast and black currants. Pours a bright red color from the currants meeting the amberish tripel Belgian base with some white head. Nose is familiar Belgian esters and the introduction of the essence of currants. Flavor is complex yet delicious: Belgian carmel and candi flavors play with the currants to create a delicate yet crushable offering. Beware, the 10% ABV is well masked. *Currant \puree added during fermentation, so the flavor is subtle tart finish

Poured the color of iced tea (reddish tint to a light brown) and sported a reasonable beige head which left sparse lacing.
The taste is understandably fruity and though I couldn't discern currants of any color there were light tastes of berries in there. It was sweet, but not overly so, nice touch with the adjuncts.
The feel has sufficient body for the style and ABV, most certainly refreshing but now a summer slammer.
OA, nice tripel, would enjoy drinking again occasionally.

Picked up a 16 oz. can at Chip's Wine, Beer, and Cigars in Kill Devil Hills - Outer Banks of North Carolina. Poured into a Chimay goblet, this beer has a reddish clear copper color and a small bubbly white head that fades quickly. Small patches of spotty lacing on the glass. For the most part, this is a good American take on a Tripel. It features Belgian yeast, a fruity presence (In this case, black currants), some peppery spicing and a little sweetness (the fruit and maybe candi sugar). The only things that keep it from being world class are the fast-fading head, a touch more alcohol harshness than I am used to in a Tripel and the lack of a quality that I usually describe as "ripe cheese" in the flavor (something I find in only the best imported Tripels). Other than this nit-picking, I found this to be a solid brew, well worth trying.
