This is a brand new stout we've never brewed before. As always, however, this Russian Imperial Stout has intense aromas of roasted malt, alcohol + fruity esters of dates all competing for attention. Jet black in color; Flavors of coffee, dark chocolate + tar with a warming bite of alcohol. Velvety smooth, chewy, with a moderate sweet finish.

Can from Bird Girl. Poured at 55degrees into Bird Girl snifter. Beautiful rich mahogany dark brown with garnet and plum accents. Full 3” thick tan creamy head with modest pour to center glass. But then quickly dissipated to lacing and surface foam, which neither survived to finish. Nose was too faint for me considering temp of beer and robust opening in the glass. What was noticeable was unremarkable but otherwise consistent with a big stout…malty, some dark fruit and maybe coffee. Taste was somewhat homogeneous, but did show modestly roasty, some char and somewhat coffee… not particularly attractive though. Not bad but boring. Body was nicely velvety and enjoyable. Silky not oily, medium not heavy. Very drinkable.
Overall a nicely made Imp Stout, but had hoped for something more pronounced and still nuanced in flavor.
