Nequient (Ghost Nequient) from Adroit Theory Brewing. Four-pack of 16 fl oz cans, ordered 04/10/25 from Adroit Theory on-line, $35.21 (including shipping)/$ 0.55/fl oz. Reviewed 02/12/25, review 3644. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. Stored at home at 37 degrees F. Served at 56.3 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 66.3 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.25
First pour – Ruby Brown (SRM 24), opaque.
Body – Black (SRM 40), opaque. Under direct light, the same. When rear-lite, candy apple red at the edges.
Head – Average (Maximum one cm, aggressive center pour). Windsor tan, high density but fizzy, short retention, dropping to a 0.05 cm constantly renewing bubble ring, and no trace of a cap.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 4 – Roasted malt with a hint of coconut and maybe pistachio, no marshmallow, no hops, no alcohol (14.5 % ABV according to the label).
Flavor – 4 – Begins slightly sweet with roasted malt and weak coconut and pistachio. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Slowly building gastric warming from the (incredibly) well-hidden alcohol.
Palate – 4 – Full: Creamy: Soft carbonation.
Style: Follows the BA style description.
Final impression and summation: 4 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated personal container. Uncredited art work. The coconut comes through on both the nose and flavor, while the pistachio is sketchy in both aspects. The marshmallow contributes to the sweetness and palate. Overall, a decent RIS somewhat lacking the traditional flavors, but still quite nice.
