Cannibalism (Ghost Cannibalism) from Adroit Theory Brewing. Four-pack of 16 fl oz cans, ordered 04/10/25 from Adroit Theory on-line, $35.21 (including shipping)/$ 0.55/fl oz. Reviewed 30/11/25, review 3644. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. Stored at home at 37 degrees F. Served at 55.7 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 59.1degrees F.
Appearance – 4
First pour – Ruby Brown (SRM 24), opaque.
Body – Black (SRM 40), opaque. Under direct light, same, with a fine precipitate visible against the glass. When rear-lite, amber at the edges.
Head – Average (Maximum one cm, aggressive center pour). Caramel, high density but fizzy, short retention, dropping to a 0.1 cm constantly renewing bubble ring, and a thin center island.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 3 – Roasted malt only, no hops, no alcohol (13.5 % ABV according to the label).
Flavor – 3 – Begins slightly bitter with roasted malt. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Ghostly gastric warming from the (incredibly) well-hidden alcohol.
Palate – 4 – Full: Creamy: Soft carbonation.
Style: Follows the BA style description.
Final impression and summation: 3.5 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated personal container. Uncredited art work. To my taste and nose, just a roasted malt drink – none of the expected flavors from a Russian Imperial Stout – no dried fruit, no coffee, maybe just a hint of dark chocolate or complex alcohols. For me, this was a miss.
