Coven (Ghost 1627) (2026) from Adroit Theory. Four-pack of 16 fl oz cans, ordered 08/12/25 from Adroit Theory on-line, perceived 03/05/26. $ 31.86/$ 0.498/fl oz. Stored at 40 degrees F at home. Reviewed 09/05/26, review 3728. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. Served at 55.0 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 60.2 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Deep Brown (SRM 30), opaque.
Body – Black (SRM 40), opaque. Under direct light, same, with a large quantity of precipitate coating the inside of the glass. When rear-lit, opaque.
Head – Small (Maximum one cm, aggressive center pour). Biscuit, medium density, short duration; the head drops to a 0.15 cm crown, and no cap.
Lacing – Fair. Forms a narrow band of near-microscopic bubbles, with short, stumpy stalactites between the band and the crown, with a few short columns connecting to the crown. This eventually opens into not merely torn but shredded curtains
Aroma – 3.5 – Very weak roasted malt.
Flavor – 3.5 – Slightly bitter with roasted malt, hints of cocoa, and distinct (but fortunately weak) filberts. No hops, no alcohol (13.5 % according to the label). No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Mild gastric warming.
Palate – 4 – Medium to full: Approaching creamy: Barely noticeable carbonation.
Style: Follows the BA style description.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 Uncredited label art. Easy drinking example of the style, with few polarizing flavors or aromas.
