Bottled June 2022 enjoyed May 21, 2023 - 5.1% ABV - poured from a capped-and-corked 750mL bottle into my Drie de Fonteinen tumbler.
Clear cerise liquid with a low stand of misty rose soft peaks. Fine, batter-like lacing; very good retention.
Inviting, gentle, complex aroma with jammy/tart fruit, oak, and funk in that order.
Macerated berries, plum skins, and red wine vinegar at first sip. Low oak influence with some delicate "wild" notes to balance the fruit. Low grassy bitterness compliments the earthy/oaky finish and accentuates the bramble notes. Fairly dry with some faint returning sweetness. Excellent.
Medium-light body, not-quite-effervescent, with some gentle tannins.
Highly enjoyable, wonderful expression of fruit, approachable but by no means superficial.

Reviewing as the bottle label was 'Marion BuVeaux' only
Look: Dark purple, bordering on black, with a pretty pink/purple frothy head on the pour, quickly dissipating
Smell: Sweet dark berry, berry skins, oak
Taste: Tart berry and oak upfront, but taste disappears immediately off the palette, leaving just an old wood flavor with no lasting berry taste, a bit disappointing
Feel: Light body, very carbonated, refreshing
Looks were amazing, but wished the aroma and taste had a little more to it.
