From a magnum, this pours amazingly clear and sparkling gold with a tall and airy white foam head.

As American gueuze as it gets, this anniversary features gassy, petrol hops, grapefruit reduction and oaky funk with a moderate acidity that meets a touch of cheesy lacticity in the dry finish. Apricot characteristics emerge with time.

The Anniversary

Poured from a bottle (Dec2020) into a stemmed Suarez glass

L: serious carb on this one! Cork flew out practical, not a gusher though. Massive, very dense white head - slowly fades, decent layer of foam remains fed by some champagne-esque visible carbonation. Completely clear, slightly darker golden yellow

S: very clean, balanced tart and funk here. Hay, slight cheese, grass, bit earthy. Some Granny Smith apple, underripe white peach, dry crisp white wine, solid oak, lemon flesh. Very lovely, lots of depth without being in your face - just excellent

T: follows the nose nicely, more depth and complexity here in a great way. Tart - oak and acidity amped up here, not overpowering though. Cheesy funk pervasive throughout. Crisp Granny Smith to open and into the finish. Nice lemon flesh notes as it’s warmed. Slightly sweeter white wine notes in the middle, different than the nose suggested and nice contrast to the more acidic first impression/finish. Solid proper lambic vibes, 3F style - earthy funk adds some depth

F: light+ body, high- carbonation. Dances on the tongue, drying

O: excellent brew with a wonderfully complex nose and swallow that evolve as it warms in the glass

Light copper body, orange hue. Complex funk, oak, relatively mild 4/10 acetic acidity, lots of lemon and citrus, earthy, touch of caramel and grainy sweetness. Medium leather. Oak. Very complex. Medium body, slight stickiness, leather and oak on finish.

Somewhat clear orange body with a huge cream colored foam head. The nose is a funky beer lovers dream: brett, barrel, barnyard, cellar musk, and horse blanket funk all present, with plenty of oak, hints of vinous notes, lemon, flowers, wild yeast, and I couldn't name it until I saw it from my fellow reviewer, earthy mushroom. Taste is not a complex with the funk but still plenty oaky, citrus dances more on the palate with lemon and grapefruit. Elevated, funky, musty, oaky, bright, but a little flat. Wonderful display of blending funk

Bottle from the source. Side by side with the new Broken Truck

A clear orange with a dense, white head with excellent retention and lacing. The nose is spectacular. Gorgeous deep, musty, mushroomy funk with forest floor, petrichor, oak. The de Garde house character is clear with the older components adding real depth. The flavors are mirrored on the palate with a mellow, quenching acidity with loads of funk present. Earth, mushroom, forest floor, horseblanket, there's real depth and marvelous balance here. Drying, funky finish. Fabulous.
