Hunter's Moon is a 7.7% American Strong Ale brewed with lactose, heavily hopped with Citra, Galaxy, Amarillo, and Wai-iti, with blood orange added. Sharp like a blade, warming like a hearty meal.

Appears a hazy burnt amber color. Has a prominent citrus aroma with a floral hint. Tastes zesty and tart with a nice sweetness and a dry finish. Feels a little thick, which is interesting for the appearance and style. Overall an amazing beer that I wish I could get more of.

Orange with a white head that disappears and leaves no lacing. Smells like orange peel and sour. There are some floral notes and year there as well. This is a sour orange beer with a nice mild bitterness.

Poured into a Dogfish traditional oversized snifter. No freshness date.

A- Pours a hazy orangeish amber color with a 1/2 inch off-white head that retains a bit before becoming a thin ring around the edge of the glass and a small center patch of sheer surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves tiny specs behind.

S- Nice hoppy aroma with some vibrant blood orange interwoven.

T- Woah, lots and lots of blood orange flavor brings about a super zesty, somewhat tart intensity. It's actually pretty overwhelming. The hops barely make their way through to bring a bit of bitterness to the table. Even as my palate acclimates I'm still wishing there was more malt sweetness or hop flavor to balance things out. Also, the high level of acidity isn't agreeing with me.

M- Somewhat tingly from the fruit juice with medium-low carbonation and a lightish body.

O- They really should've dialed back the blood orange juice IMO. Drinkable, but lacking complexity. If it were more carbonated, it might've had a chance of coming off as a blood orange San Pellegrino style beer but instead it's just a juice bomb. A bit disappointed to be honest.
