Poured into a Double Barley can-shaped glass. Bottom of can says 10/03/16.
A- Pours a light amber color with a 1/2 inch off-white head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of surface foam. Not-so-resilient lacing leaves small clots behind.
S- Sweet aroma of citrusy hops, paw paw fruit and a bit of sweet cereal grain malt that, together, is excellent. The paw paw gives off a smell I can only liken to vanilla custard.
T- The fruitiness of the hops and the sweetness of the paw paw are well integrated and play off the hops' bitterness very nicely. The malt is there to provide just enough contrasting sweetness.
M- Soft on the palate but also somewhat sharp from the hops. Again, very nice contrast here. Medium carbonation and a lightish body.
O- This IPA has all the great elements: fruit, bite, sweetness and drinkability. All while being a great candidate for a session beer (at least my kind of session), this is another fantastic release from Burial.
