Received from @Dragginballs76 in NBS BIF #6 – Thanks Michael!
Can dated 09/04/16 Idaho7 stored in 42 degree reefer since arrival. Served at 42 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Aroma – Initially pine, citrus, and a little tropical fruit. This fades to a little light fruitiness.
Head – Large (Maximum 6.5 cm, aggressive pour), white, low density froth, average retention, diminishing to a two to three mm ring fed by effervescence, a thin partial layer, and some broken lacing. Second pour head is much smaller (1.9 cm) and denser.
Lacing – Basically none beyond the retraction marks of the first pour.
Body – Very light yellow, clear, effervescent. Final pour is cloudy.
Flavor – Keeping with the light theme, the flavor begins with a bit of generic tropical fruit and ends with a bit of bitter citrus peel, both subdued. The bitterness has a long hang-time. I’m not detecting any malt, alcohol, or diacetyl flavors.
Palate – Light, watery, lively carbonation.
Impression: A good session IPA, not so flavorful that one is enough, bitter enough to keep you coming back, and low enough in alcohol to make it (relatively) safe to pound.
Appearance 3.5, Aroma 4, Flavor 4.25, Palate 4, Overall 4.25.

A: Pours a very lightly hazy pale yellow in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and moderate lemon yellow highlights. The beer has a finger tall foamy white head that reduces to a large patch of thin film covering the entire surface of the beer with a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of citrus/ruby red grapefruit, tropical/papaya, tropical/apricot, and pine/resin hops over light aromas of slightly sweet grainy malts.
T: Upfront there is a light to moderate flavor of slightly sweet grainy malts. Slightly stronger than moderate flavors of citrus/ruby red grapefruit, tropical/papaya, tropical/apricot, and pine/resin hops. Light to moderate amounts of bitterness which fades away pretty quickly.
M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly crisp.
O: Very easy to drink, very sessionable, and very enjoyable. One of the better session IPAs available since the mouthfeel is not watery like some others. Definitely worth grabbing and I have tried all of the different hop versions available so far. Nice hop flavor + aroma.
