This grog was inspired by our house Imperial Stout, Voorhamer, using a bevy of dark malts, kettle-torched sugars, cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, cinnamon and lactose sugar.

A: Pours an opaque thick viscous jet black in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint very dark cola brown colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense foamy dark brown head that slowly reduces to a large patch of thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of dark roasted, almost charred malts + dark malts and moderate to strong aromas of smoked malts with some subtle hints of earthy hops, dark fruit (cherry + fig), vanilla, and milk chocolate.
T: Upfront there are moderate to strong flavors of dark roasted, almost charred malts + moderate flavors of dark malts + strong flavors of smoked malts with a light to moderate amount of dark fruit (cherry) and lactose sweetness. Light to moderate flavors of vanilla + milk chocolate with moderate flavors of earthy hops. Slightly stronger than moderate amounts of roasty bitterness which lingers along with the smokiness.
M: Medium to full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth with a hint of alcohol warming in the finish after the beer warms up.
O: Enjoyable but with the big smokiness to it, definitely a slow sipper. Alcohol is relatively well hidden from the flavor and the aroma. Lots of complexity to the flavors and aromas.
