another unique beer from these guys, this one a berliner type sour designed to taste like an orange creamsicle, with orange zest, lactose, and vanilla all added. usually i am not a huge fan of desserty sours, outside of some really esoteric grimm stuff, this style has been more often miss than hit for me, but this is killer because of its subtlety in the right places. for one, the sourness here is very clean and tidy, and its also very mild, this isnt hardly lactic at all, and just has a bit of tang to it, nice with the natural acidity of the orange zest, not too powerful and actually accenting the other elements really well. the orange is natural here, floral and summery and with some bitterness to balance out some of the sweetness of the lactose. meanwhile the vanilla is tastefully proportioned to not be too bold in the mix, or goes great with the orange, and while this doesnt quite taste exactly like the popsicle, its pretty darn good. light wheaty base underneath has a minimal body and just enough character to still make this taste like beer. i love what these guys are doing, definitely one of my favorite breweries in the country at this point!
