Collaboration with Civil Society Brewing
This is a life of unbridled youth. It’s an exploration of extravagance, suffering of consequence and mending of peril. And we meander this path until the day we perish. Made as an homage to our sons, with Civil Society Brewing. Dry-hopped with Citra, Summer, Wai-Iti and Double dry-hopped with Amarillo Lupulin Powder.

a collaboration with civil society, and about as much hops as can be packed into a beer, one of those many times dry hopped complexions, but the hops in the mix are awesome. yellow colored pale beer, starchy looking and rather dense with sediment under a frothing white head. it has citra hops, which to me are quite apparent, especially in the nose. it also has summer hops, which i have discovered only this summer (haha) are sort of savory, vegetal and without the citrus notes so many hops have, quite an interesting hop, and it gives this some balance across the board. there are waiti hops too, which are newer to me but obviously an intense new zealand white wine and melon and kiwi southern hemisphere thing, this to me is the dominant hop in the beer. the amarillo lupulin powder element is cool too, i havent seen it from this hop yet i dont think, but its highly aromatic and like a fresher and cleaner and bolder version of amarillo, which i love as well. i wish the base beer was a little lighter, brighter, and less weighty, but at least its relatively dry and well carbonated. amazing fruitiness to the hops, light bitterness but intense still, really nice combination of hops, thats what i will remember about this one. burial can do no wrong in my opinion right now, this one is killer!

Pours into a stemmed glass a hazy/milky orange tea tinged color with a full two finger slight off white head atop that settles into a frothy mass, the color here was to gauge.Orange and tangerine notes really stick out in the nose, very bright and citric. Those same flavors hit upfront on the palate with a little lime thrown in but then a drying effect comes thru in the finish wich keeps it from being sugary sweet making it very drinkable.I get a bit of sweet onion and a hint of grass as I drink more but the sweetness stays in check well.

Pours thick from the pint can, opaque even compared to other hazed-out NEIPAs. Very smooth entry, but followed by an intense dual wave of citrus and bitterness, thanks to the ample dry-hopping. Pretty strong on the grapefruit impression, indicative of the Amarillo hops. Great mouthfeel but perhaps leaning too far in on the bitterness--maybe this can is still a bit green.

Another winner from Burial. Slightly more hype than it really is though. This one sits below Massacres of the Innocents to me on the NEIPA scale. On the IPA rating, this one is more balanced and toned down on the tropical fruity flavors. Still, Burial is producing top NEIPAs coming out of NC right now along with Heist. Cool collab here with Civil Society weighing in.

Opaque milky orange color with a thin, sticky white foam topping. Aroma has the expected soft tropical fruit thing going on: orange creamsicle, apricot, grapefruit, and a bit of wort. Creamy fruity hop flavors as well with ripe mango, peach, tangerine, hay, and lime. Creamy smooth, but not too heavy, finishing dry and keeping it nicely drinkable for its strength.

Pale and murky with a dense, creamy, white head. Tons of lacing left on the glass. Sweet smelling with a hint of caramel that is overpowered by mango, papaya, grapefruit and pine. Nice creamy mouthfeel and it tastes like fresh mango and grapefruit with some acidity and a hint of lime. There is a nice sweetness to it but it finishes clean. I really hope this collab beer finds its way into the regular rotation. It is really delicious.

A: Pours a murky medium golden honey in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate medium golden + bright yellow colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense creamy foamy light beige head that slowly reduces to a couple of small patches of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Just shy of strong aromas of juicy tropical/mango, tropical/papaya, citrus/mandarin orange, citrus/grapefruit, and floral hops over the top of moderate aromas of caramel + biscuit malts with a moderate amount of caramel + honey-like sweetness.
T: Upfront there are just shy of moderate flavors of caramel + biscuit + oat malts with a moderate amount of caramel + honey-like sweetness. That is followed by just shy of strong flavors of juicy tropical/mango, tropical/papaya, citrus/mandarin orange, citrus/grapefruit, citrus/lime zest, and floral hops which impart a hint of bitterness which fades away quickly leaving lingering juicy citrus + tropical fruit hop flavors.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Soft with a hint of dryness in the finish.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a refreshing juicy flavor + aroma. Really enjoyable hop profile and I could easily have a couple of these - great beer after spending most of the days outdoors on a hot muggy NC spring day.
