they start here with a glorious pilsener, a near perfect lager in its own right, crisp and light and refreshing, springtimey and flavorful and delicate and botanical, and then they add these wet hops to it. not sure what varietal they use, but they sure get a lot out of it here. i think something crisp and dry like this makes a lot of sense for wet hops, which for how distinctive they are, can be mild and easily lost to bigger malts and interesting yeasts. here the hops stands out like crazy, with a fresh grassy and limey complexion, some lemongrass and tea and almost greasy oils, its so obviously wet hopped beer. the hops are really well selected here in that they do not overwhelm the base beer, but rather fit in a complimentary role. grassy and noble-esque, without the more common tropical properties, but i think thats perfectly suited to this pils. the thing about this beer, which i have found in many of the other lighter offerings from burial, is that one simply isnt enough, this is a beer i want to spend the whole night with, maybe a whole month, its just so easy drinking, balanced but flavorful, and professionally made. the snappy lager vibes still lead the way, and these hops are awesome. another brilliant beer from burial!
