Collaboration with Rigs of Dad

Several sips past the ether lays a pantheon of pleasure and knowledge. Where the Tone Zone meets the Tome Zone. Where wisdom is washed away by the libation of the Demi-god generation. Last summoned as a Barbarian, Tonin’ the Librarian is the the sequel of swords, smarts, and sweetness in which you wield. It has taken the best of the specter-nectar from our beloved predecessor and celebrates its second life with a citrus smack for only the strongest of centurions. The only effort that puts the “more” in “sophomoric effort”. Lost are the days of leading your tastebuds into battle blind and unlearned, for here is the dawn of drink-divinity. So imbibe the rhythm of the intergalactic, the scholastic, and the fantastic with our friend, Rigs of Dad. Double dry-hopped with Citra, Strata, Idaho 7, Vic Secret and Columbus Cryo.

A: Pours a hazy slightly darker than medium golden honey in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate medium to dark golden yellow + burnt orange + bright yellow + apricot colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense creamy sudsy foamy off-white head that slowly reduces to a handful of small to medium sized patches of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of very thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of juicy citrus/orange + tropical/papaya + tropical/pineapple + stone fruit/peach + tropical/melon hops over the top of moderate aromas of biscuit + pale + oat + toasted malts with a slightly heavier than light amounts of caramel sweetness.

T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of biscuit + pale + oat + toasted malts with a slightly heavier than light amounts of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of juicy citrus/orange + tropical/papaya + tropical/pineapple + stone fruit/peach + tropical/melon hops which impart a light to moderate amount of lingering bitterness.

M: Medium bodied with slightly heavier than moderate amounts of carbonation. Initially slightly crisp with a light to moderate amount of dryness in the finish.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a nice crisp + dry refreshing mouthfeel. Enjoyable though a bit of a hybrid NEIPA/West Coast IPA (maybe a hazy West Coast IPA) which worked really well - nice juicy hop aromas + flavors as well as some lingering bitterness.

Appearance: Pours a slightly opaque honey color with a one finge head that leaves webs of lacing

Smell: Papaya, pineapple, peach and melon dominate with a touch of orange blending some citrus into the mix

Taste: Papaya and pineapple forward, with peach and melon tone emerging; through the middle, the citrusy orange aspect emerges; the finish is dry and fruity, with the citrus lingering into the aftertaste

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate to high carbonation

Overall: It has been a while since I have had a Burial IPA and this one is first class; it is not a hazy but it is very much in the New England vein
